I dont have any problems with speed bumps or anything like that. What I do have a problem with however is road deformities that don't lift the rear wheels but come straight up the middle. I've scraped the mufflers a few times. Also rocks strewn across mountain roads are a nightmare and hit all sorts of crap under the car in addition to the FI Exhaust.

Edit: Looks amazing on your car!

In Columbus, I'm not sure this will fly. This is the only reason why I'm not 100% sold quite yet.

Drone... that's what I'm worried about. I ordered HFCs just incase the 18" res are not enough for me. I'll install the CBE first and if I need more noise I will put the HFCs in. If not I'll just sell them here at a discount. :)

Honestly I think the exhaust will be fine..I couldn't imagine getting anything less than the 18".

I got the my BERK HFC put on the car yesterday and the whole thing sounds nice but I think I like it better before HFC for sound because it doesn't have that raspy hiss thing going on.

I'm still debating over this exhaust or the Stillen exhaust - this one has more gains and looks great, but ground clearance might be an issue for me.

I dunno.

What I wonder is how far up can the wheels travel? I think when I do coilovers, I'll have to take the opportunity to find out - where's the limit....

If the suspension travels 4.0", then the only thing you'd have to worry about is a severe bump (or a high-G dip in the road w/ a bump) and a high center...or, a very high center that would definately scrape the front of the car first...

those kinds of things...lol

FuszNissan 09-15-2009 10:26 AM

At stock hieght you should be fine. I have hit some good dips at 70 and didn't even touch. My front hits all the time. I haven't had one issue with the exhaust.

zulus370Z 09-15-2009 10:29 AM

So the HFC makes that much of a difference In the sound?
How about the gains before and after Te HFC after having the exhaust already?
I'm torn between buying just the hfc or the exhaust only and no hfc.

Thanks in advance

I purchased the 18" res FI catback, as well as the HFC's from FI.

On my Nismo catback, I loved the growl the Berk HFC's gave the exhaust, but really hated the hiss as the RPM's would fall or driving through the neighborhood cold, before the pipes and everything really heated up. I had my friend drive my car past me and it sounded like *** when the pipes were cold. Eventually I sold the Berks because I couldn't stand the hiss.

So why have I purchased the HFC's for the FI? Well, I've watched both of Tony's videos a thousand times each (the original 12" and the 12" w/ HFC tunnel runs) and just LOVE the extra growl the HFC's give it. The thing sounds beautiful without them, mellow and exotic, but with the HFC's just downright mean. Tony's videos have convinced me to give the HFC's (the FI ones this time around) a second chance.

Mine ships this week, I intend on doing video of both with and without the HFC's installed. As before, if it turns out I don't like them, I'll turn around and sell them as previously. Either way, I'm confident the exhaust will sound badass.

Reality is... the exhaust u can buy to last a lifetime.
Most high performance mufflers wind up getting replaced.
If not for functional reasons? Its for appearance reasons.
(Unless your whole car looks like crap 5 years from now? Then it doesn't matter) lol
So I think you will be relatively safe with 3.5 inch clearance if ur cautious n pay attention to the road.
But don't expect to lower your cars n add bigger exhausts or even body kits n they remain unscaved.
The only way that won't happen is if u jus don't drive the car.

By the way.... THE CAR IS GORGEOUS! CONGRATS ON THE EXHAUST. N THANKS FOR THE REVIEW CUZ I BEEN THINKIN DEEP ON THIS EXHAUST. NOW I JUS GOTTA CHECK OUT THE GREDDY N MAKE A FINAL DECISION.
ITS ALWAYS AWESOME TO READ! THESE KINDS OF THREADS. THANKS ;)

Daishi 09-15-2009 03:59 PM

how do we stop the hissing? will the resonated test pipes hiss and sound like crap?

FuszNissan 09-15-2009 04:25 PM

Maybe FI HFC's won't do it.
