Loudest exhaust with stock cats..shorty headers, mid-pipe, short tails

OP asked about the loudest setup. Not what makes more or less power.

Thanks

With the stock cats in place, shorty headers are going to make very little difference in volume. Where are you getting your info from?

Been around for 15 years in road course, drag, NA applications, hondas, turbo subarus - new here but not 'new' at all. But I am glad to be here, enjoying my 370z very much.

I'd bet you lunch a pair of shorty headers on an otherwise stock 370z exhaust would increase in DBs at WOT under load. And it would only be further amplified by a midpipe + short tails. Exhaust components tends to be synergistic especially when it comes to scavenging and cfms.

The thin wall tubing alone would add noise :)

But...yes I would imagine that the long tubes are always going to be superior, stuffing a clumsy collector closer to combustion rarely makes power unless there is a snail attached to it, but OP just wants noise :P

It's possible it would be a bit louder, but like you said- only from a change in tubing. The 370 has a really good set of manifolds as it is. If the OP still has the OEM cats bolted to a set of headers, it's going to cork the majority of excess noise right back up.

Never seen the stock headers, eh?

Take a peek behind the heat shield sometime. There's no "thick wall" metal in there. Shorties aren't gonna be measurably louder if they're going through the stock cats.

Yeah, these aren't crappy log-style cast iron manifolds like some cars have. The OE headers are damn good for a factory effort.

I just ordered AAM short tails for 398 shipped from conceptz. I dont find that too expensive

One of these would definitely make your car have the loudest possible exhaust.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Ill show you in a week! lol

why don't you go for nice expensive tone instead of obnoxious cheap loudness like every other ricey civic out there. Seems like most new comers to the 370z are basically asking how can i be the biggest douche bag by stancing my wheels almost horizontal and whats the cheapest loudest exhaust they make.

loudest exhaust set-up? yea i got that lol

Do full straight pipes win?

I have to defend for OP. I do wonder where you drew this conclusion from.OP was only asking for a set of loud exhaust but he never mentioned cheapest. Besides, OP's signature indicates he has a GTR so I don't think he will fall in the league of cheap and loud exhausts. And you should not hate civics as there are not that many civics out there have very loud exhausts. Your comment is very offensive.

BTW, ran into a white civic with seemed to be a really cute girl this morning while walking to train. At my glance I thought she gave me a smile. Car drove away before I could turn my head.:(

Lol how does price equal "expensive tone? I hate the hks sound. That's the dumbest **** I've ever heard. Many hate the army... Whatever CBE and it costs $2600 so your logic is flawed. So because FI charges a ton that makes his exhaust worthy? His possible Chinese made mufflers and 100% Chinese made Vibrant resonators he uses are the same resonators on my car. But because I bought SS pipe and the same resonators and put it together myself my $450 CBE must be crap just because of the amount spent? Get real dude.

FPenvy 03-27-2014 05:53 PM

Still think I got the loudest lol

And many people liked his comments. I thought this community is suppose to provide constructive opinions instead of criticizing on what other people likes.
