If you have an ARK GRiP cbe, i need your input!

what's up guys, i currently have a nismo with a muffler delete on the nismo exhaust (sounds amazing btw) but im the kinda person who likes to change exhausts every now and then.. i have been going back and forth between FI and ARK GRiP (i like the angled mufflers) but it seems like i've settled down on the GRiP since FI takes forever to get here and im not that patient :happydance:
I just have a few concerns about the GRiP, i have heard that there are some fitment issues, especially on the nismo, has anybody had that issues or knows of someone who's having it? any help would be appreciated! thank you

kz34wa 02-16-2014 08:08 AM

Have you looked at the HKS Hi-power exhaust and Motordyne e370? those are angled mufflers too. :)

Those are also a bit too expensive for my budget.. and with all honesty they don't sound any better than the GRiP or FI..

bump for opinions :D

pearlyZ 02-17-2014 11:55 PM

It sound amazing.

But for whatever reason since i switch my dealer oil to Royal Purple it is dead quite like stock, i have no idea, now think about adding a FI HFC to see what happen.

The only fitment problem we ever had at the shop is that sometimes the exhaust tips are not perfectly centered in the bumper, I'm talking about maybe a 3mm difference at the most.

that's quite odd, however, glad to know that it sounded good before :icon17:

Oh well if that is all then that shouldn't be an issue at all, thank you for mentioning that buddy

derraj06 02-18-2014 10:38 PM

I have the Grip exhaust on my 370z. Only issues I have had are as follows:

1. Didn't lift the resonator section before bolting everything together so it beat on the brace below the exhaust. I loosened it and put a jack under it to lift it while I tightened everything down again. Most likely my mistake because once I did this the issue went away.

2. slightly uneven tips in the bumper. I've tried every way to fix it without bending anything but it is difficult to line up with just one person.

I highly enjoy the exhaust. It's got a great sound and little to no drone at cruising RPMs. Seems to be well built and has stood up to one season on the dragon already, plus the first day back this year. I will buy their exhaust for about anything I own.

Do you have a nismo or are you referring to a different bumper?

Malm 02-22-2014 07:26 PM

I just had the ark grip installed today

very happy.

I have a nismo, and I installed the ark grip about a month ago. I went to Ark and had them install it since it's their product. They told me that some people have that same issue. Other than that their are no problems. It is a great exhaust not to loud and not to quiet. In addition looks great with the burnt tips, and catches a lot of attention.

Adalvar 02-22-2014 07:49 PM

Here is a pic. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/23/4yjyju7u.jpg

I have a Grip but not the Nismo. I had no install or fitment issues, just take your time and make sure you jack up the x-pipe before tightening it down to the cats. Otherwise it can cause a rattle. Aligning the tips was a little difficult to do by myself, just be patient.

I love the sound of this exhaust, especially when you get on it. I wish the tips were more attractive like the FI, but it still looks great. I love the 'ARK' stamped on the cans. Make sure you take the time to align the cans otherwise the wording draws attention to the crookedness.

daisuke149 03-04-2014 09:52 AM

The Grip is probably my favorite exhaust for the 370z. I personnally had over 5 diff exhausts myself and have heard multiple other setups in person.

Its got a really nice tone and makes a beautiful sound when you get on it, sounds great when your just cruising around town and also dies down to a low burble with no drone when on the highway. Its not loud and obnoxious, but its definitely audible and turns heads.

P's_Z 03-04-2014 07:25 PM

Nice pic and vid! Hopefully i will order mine soon.

OP, i dont have an ark exhaust yet , but what i can tell you from a buddy of mine is that fitments looks perfect and the sound is aaamaaaizing, his exhaust is what made me decide between FI and the grip exhaust.

He does have a base Z and not a nismo however.

agoodcar 03-04-2014 10:04 PM

i have the grip cbe
1. drone under 40mph
2 sounds great deep and agressive
3. fitment isn't perfect it sticks out a little and down from the bumper it doesn't look bad your installer has to mess around with it to line it up

nhbpcivicsi 03-06-2014 03:46 PM

Thank you all for the help, still cannot decide between GRiP and FI.. lol, this shouldn't be that complicated

reynald3616 03-07-2014 12:14 AM

i am happy

You pretty much decided in your OP due to lack of patience! ;) If you can wait, Fast Intentions all the way IMO

Can't go wrong with either. The Grip has this wail when you rev it that is just incredibly intoxicating and why I chose mine. I also love that mine sounds virtually stock on the highway.

sixpax 03-07-2014 06:20 PM

I like the Grip :)

No doubt FI is a great product, and worth its wait, however Ark Grip is no slouch either.

The differences (at least the ones that non-mechanical people will notice), is the Ark has more of an Aggressive look (I love the dual cans peeking below the bumper)..however FI has nicer tips.

The sound... I posted a vid..and that is just the grip with stock cats/headers...and it sounds beautiful... very deep rumble.. very very very little drone at street speeds (nothing a few clicks of the radio wouldn't drown out)... when you gas it.. Everyone knows... and at Highway cruising..she runs silent unless you gas the hell out of it.

I might replace the Cats next (no emission here in FL) ..but need to find out the difference between resonated test pipes and HFC's ..unless they are the same thing.. I don't know... but I cant imagine the sound being much better than it already is.

Zbrah 03-16-2014 01:44 PM

If your z is a daily driver AND you have plans to lower it, don't buy either. Both system will sit very low, you're going to have clearance issues going over bumps, dips, and steep entrances. Staying at stock height you will not have any problems, either system will sound nice.

Don't lower it if you are on 18" wheels. Stock height w 18s is bout as low as you can go. Get a bigger wheel, then you have some wiggle room

nhbpcivicsi 03-20-2014 09:49 AM

that's another thing that was brought up, i like the stock height of the nismo but i might get some swifts in the future to get it a bit lower..
I'm this close to pulling the trigger on the GRiP, i really don't wanna wait for 3 months once i make a decision to get an exhaust, which kinda sucks because FI seems to have a great fan base and people swearing by their product

Get the Grip!! I think you'll love the sound, I know I do!

I'm pulling my Z out of storage this weekend and am planning to install the swifts shortly thereafter and will report back.

Three months will pass by fast! I've waited 1 month and 3 weeks, mine should be shipped out next Friday...I hope lol. But you should just order the FI, think about other mods for a while...next thing you know...BAM! there's a big box in front of your front door. Just saying the wait isn't that bad, but people with Ark Grip loves their CBE, so it's really Win - Win whatever you choose, Good Luck!

You will be very happy with the ark. Worst case you cut a little off the hanger, tho I doubt you will have too if you lower it

Installed my Ark Grip V2 this past weekend. LOVE the sound and LOVE the look. :yum: Although, it did take me 3 attempts to get the tips and canisters lined up and symmetrical. All I had was Rhino Ramps on the rear wheels, so no much room to work with. VERY happy with the results! :driving:

Nice! i can tell that you're lowered, are you experiencing any sort of scrapping because the exhaust hangs pretty low?

Thank you! Actually, I'm at stock height. It may just be the angle of the photo. My driveway is pretty steep, so sadly no Swift springs for me. :(

I just installed swifts this weekend. The lowest point of the exhaust is just barely lower then the lowest part of the car. I think there's sufficient clearance still. If you're smart about it I dont think you'll have many issues scraping.
