Thats a stupid deal for the Grip. I love mine, lowered on swifts and my front scrapes occasionally but I have no problem with the exhaust. I am fairly careful though. Alignment is tough if you are on the ground any by yourself; time, patience, and buddy will go along way in making those tips sit perfect. I'm actually waiting on the fed ex guy as week speak to bring my R-Spec HFC's and the car awaits me at home on jack stands for some friday night fun after work. No knocking FI either though. I think they both sound great... FI is louder and I personally feel like the GRIP retains the VQ note very well so famously heard from the 350's just with a mean aggressive twist on it. I seriously couldn't be any happier with the ARK for my personal taste. I think thats what it comes down to though... do you want your car to be loud or to retain a more mild sounding exhaust that you could take a road trip and actually be comfortable with the sound. Hope that helps in your decision.

Agree. Right time right place I guess. I couldn't be happier as well. I don't think they're any lower than the FI when on Swifts. As with any lowered car, you just need to be careful and scraping will be inevitable at some point.

Post up a vid when you get the HFCs installed. Should sound mean!

SXZ34 03-28-2014 02:35 PM

I will see about getting one up. I think it should sound pretty deep and mean! Veddy Ex-Cite haha

daisuke149 03-28-2014 04:26 PM

nice Job Alan, I need a ride from you soon.

nhbpcivicsi 03-28-2014 10:19 PM

i contacted FBnissan and they quoted me over $1300 :ugh2: cant seem to find it for cheaper than $1200 shipped from any of the vendors.. anybody knows of a better deal?

$1200 shipped is still a good deal. Otherwise you'll probably have to wait for a sale

BA9092 03-29-2014 10:52 AM

I ordered mine from THMotorsports.com for $1359.20 with free shipping. It was the lowest I could find at the time (all of January and February.)

SXZ34 03-29-2014 02:14 PM

yeah thats a pretty good deal. ARKs Tax sale has them under 1300 right now but they are normally over 1500 Its quality and sounds great. You have to pay to play when you have a nice car and want nice things for it But definitely completely worth 1300

I agree. And just when you think you got it bad, i ordered mine recently and since i live in PR... No free shipping for me(shipping was $400)

I still think i got a good deal, ordered mine from kyle at import parts pro(a vendor here)... I recommend anyone interested in this exhaust, write to kyle

nhbpcivicsi 03-29-2014 10:21 PM

My mind is already made on the ARK, very good feedback from many people! only concern now is fitment on nismo.. this is a never ending cycle haha, so difficult to make a decision

Adalvar 03-29-2014 10:27 PM

If you have an ARK GRiP cbe, i need your input!

I have the Ark grip exhaust on my nismo since January. No problems what so ever. I had the ARK TEAM put it on for me. It should fit with out an issue as long as it's placed by a pro.

Oh thats good to hear! so they didn't have to cut anything off to adjust the length, and did it clear the bumper? since the nismo is a bit longer than the regular 370z? and by a pro you do mean any exhaust shop right? i dont plan on doing it myself anymore

It is actually a very easy install if you do it yourself, a pro is not needed at all. If you're going to a shop, I'd go to a performance shop, or a smaller ma & pa shop. Those chains don't care about the details. I've seen the Ark Grip on a Nismo, and there were no clearance issues with the rear bumper.

Emanwuzhere 03-30-2014 10:40 AM

Just a heads....I got the DT-S exhaust and had to take it to a garage cuz the holes for the bolts did not line up...called ARK and they told me to flip it over (they thought I had it backwards but the flanges won't line up if you did it the other way)....I had to take it to a garage to get the holes grinded wider for the bolts to clear and for the flanges to line up....The garage told me lots of the ARK exhaust have been having fitment issues with pipes lining up....and I just have a sport package non-nismo

The DTS is different then the Grip though. The Grip v1 did have some fitment issues. It has been long replaced by the Grip V2 Type2 which corrected all that (and sits higher). I had zero fitment issues with mine and I installed it in my garage.

Malm 03-30-2014 11:15 AM

I bought my v2 grip used off the forums from a part out... exhausts are something you can buy used and they work/look as good as new..as long as the previous owner takes care of em.

After I had mine installed, took it home..took a can of mothers cleaner and shined everything right back up to new.

They sound great and have are visually very aggressive which is cool.

nhbpcivicsi 03-30-2014 12:35 PM

does anybody know if any of the vendors are still selling the v1 model? i hope they aren't..

Same here, just got my GRIP installed, I can't imagine going with anything different, GRIP is so perfect for the car, thank God I took my time researching, got it for $1275 from ARK in SoCal, I am local so they installed it for me, fitment was perfect, tips are perfectly aligned, quality is like no other. Good power increase, low-mid-top range.

Here is a picture.

No adjustment needed what so ever.
Yes just have a muffler shop do it.
Most importantly make sure it is clear, to whomever is doing to job, that the canisters are aligned along with the exhaust tips. Other than that you should be good.

Nice! let us know how it goes :rofl2:

nhbpcivicsi 04-03-2014 08:59 PM

So the dealership is offering to install the exhaust when I receive it on Monday, they quoted me about $100 which I thought was pretty good.. should I have them do it or take it to an exhaust shop? opinions :D

mjm 04-03-2014 09:02 PM

As long as they take their time and you are satisfied when they're done, no problem!

I would say the Nissan dealership will be the best source, since they know there own cars. You should be good even if a muffler shop does it. Just make sure it's clear that the canisters and tips are aligned.

Any of you guys with the GRiP have another exhaust previously? How does it compare?

b15 04-04-2014 09:11 AM

Here's my Ark Grip + Swift Spec-R springs. Not the best picture but there's plenty of clearance.

Will do. The lowest point of the exhaust is just about equal with the factory (by the diff). Check out Adalvar's photo above

nhbpcivicsi 04-05-2014 11:42 AM

Best bet would be to let the dealership install it, so they can take responsibility for anything that might go wrong, thanks guys!

mjm 04-05-2014 04:28 PM

Mine is now installed! Alignment is perfect!

Gains on the Ark CBE? About the same as FI?

Not sure how much gains as i have other mods, but i can definitely tell you it is noticible. Response is better and i felt more top end power after install, car just feels more "loose" is the only way i can describe it. This, plus the sound and looks are just :yum:
