Phunk whats up with the mainfold, it still lives on?

phunk 06-16-2015 12:35 PM

I have been too busy this season to spend much time with it, I will be sure and post updates as they come. I will start a new thread when the time comes.

Elmo370z 06-16-2015 01:44 PM

I understand, can't wait until the list

Nismo350z#310 07-10-2015 07:46 AM

Just checking in.

This cash is starting to burn a hole through my hand!

phunk 07-10-2015 01:12 PM

Things have been going back to normal around here lately and there has been some new inspirations to get back on the project. I recently picked up a lower intake manifold 3D scan from a member here which will be nice because I can really fine tune the runner transition there. I am going to have the valvecovers 3D scanned too so I can really hug those... going to send them off right away.

These small things will increase my confidence level in getting it right the first time, which GREATLY motivates the entire project. There is so much programming and setup just to make a prototype for something this complex, that when you KNOW its going to be right, its so much easier to stay on track.

phunk 07-10-2015 01:18 PM

Im going to merge the scanned LIM and one of my renditions and I will try and post up some screen shots this weekend and get some feedback from you guys. I think it might be time to go with this. I might even have an outside source machine it for me just to get it over with already.

Chuck33079 07-10-2015 01:23 PM

You know that you pretty much have to engrave "masterpiece" on this, right? :rofl2:

Phunk any guess estimate on the price of the manifold once it's completed

Kingbaby 07-15-2015 03:30 PM

I clicked on this thread

had to click back a page to read post #326

heart almost skipped a beat

phunk 07-15-2015 03:49 PM

the 3D scan of the LIM unfortunately didnt work out for me (software incompatibility issue), so I will have to truck forward without that.

no ideas on pricing yet, i will post up any details as they come

derraj06 07-17-2015 12:26 AM

If you need it, I've got a spare upper that I was going to dissect for a similar project.

Kingbaby 08-14-2015 06:24 AM

^^^

nice was planning the same lol

Elmo370z 08-25-2015 04:16 PM

Phunk any updates for the manifold?

Kingbaby 09-05-2015 06:13 AM

Anything ...

At the current rate, RJM will have had something first. I don't care, I just need something from someone! lol

roplusbee 10-17-2015 10:51 AM

RJM like the clutch pedal dudes?

You have gained my interest.

brucelidat 10-21-2015 03:33 AM

Any updates on this? a intake manifold that can gain maybe 10whp over the m370 throughout the rev range and peak would probably ell pretty well. I m obviously referrign to NA.

Elmo370z 10-21-2015 06:34 AM

The manifold isn't on his
Priority list, though he does have a na to do testing. Who knows when and if this manifold will ever come out. There is one that is coming on the market very soon, but i dont trust where its coming from

Are you talking about the rjm lower manifold or the gtm one?

Elmo370z 10-21-2015 09:46 PM

Rjm

Kingbaby 10-28-2015 12:07 AM

I give up on the wait, got back from deployment thought I'd be one of the first to buy some cool shlt but no...

Deployment in a couple months

Bye world

ANMVQ 10-29-2015 08:01 AM

Been waiting for this also, I'd even dyno test it for him, Vs the M370 and Z1. Both I have tested VS one another already

Elmo370z 10-29-2015 08:46 PM

I suppose for.NA the results wouldnt be to.different. The true test would be if we could.compare those.mani's with a high revving Z

Elmo370z 11-02-2015 09:49 PM

Wonder if Phunk came up with a badass manifold for lets say 2,500k and only kept stock of this for group buys 10 or more, Did test on boosted and NA motors and made power. Would people be interested?

phunk 11-03-2015 01:06 AM

It would sell like crazy at 2500 if it looked right and performed well enough and most importantly existed and was able to be purchased :)

It is still in the slow cooker, I am just burned out on speculation or etc... I made a mistake really by even participating in this thread until I had something more tangible. I will make a fresh thread for it when I have something worthy in my hands.

brucelidat 11-03-2015 01:41 AM

$2500 is pretty steep. It'd need to have gains of 20whp/trq on top of all the other bolt-ons.

Ya it's not a cheap undertaking, and it's safe to say that the costs versus the expectations has a whole lot to do with why there isn't anything available yet.

Elmo370z 11-29-2015 01:03 AM

Get group of serious buyers together that are willing to spend the money. Im sure if you make an intake manifold like the one you designed and it makes power i'm sure it will sell. You could corner a market that nobody has even touched yet.

no worse than spending 4k on a titanium exhaust for less hp. 2,500 bucks isn't bad at all. If you're the type who just buys parts because they look cool and give you some ample hp with tuning then yes its not worth it. If you're the type who buys parts with a build in mind knowing this part will be beneficial towards your build then the price isn't bad. If he did build the mani especially for boosted crowd and it made awesome power under the curve with less boost, it would sell faster then $1 bang session with megan fox.

brucelidat 11-29-2015 12:59 PM

Yeah, for boosted applications, but we were talking about NA.

Elmo370z 11-29-2015 01:02 PM

Yes, just like phunk stated earlier in the thread you will have to spin the motor to make the power needed. Only one person has took the effort to make VHR motor to handle high revs and he made more power for NA then anyone on here. He had a mani jun cam and shortie headers. Looking at his dyno the power was still climbing at 8,200 rpms.

Elmo370z 11-29-2015 01:03 PM

The majority of the crowd here isn't willing to buy a dry sump and new crank to spin the motor. No company is producing a wet sump solution to support higher revs. Plus after 8k the vibrations will cause our crank to fail prematurely.
