Thanks

i dont get why people still worry about CARB legal issue
my last intake in my other car was carb legal(AEM) i still got a ticket for it because it is still up to the cops discretion to ticket you you might be driving legally with a CARB legal car but most likely if you get pull over cop wont take your word and still have to prove it in court and go thru that hassle |
Do these intakes sit right behind the removable plastic fang panels? For someone living in socal (little to no rain) it would would nice to have direct air flow to the filters if the placement is right.

here are some pics of the black not installed for anyone who might be interested.

Thanks for the sale Nick! I was shocked to see how fast you shipped it to my military APO in Germany! It more than made up for the coilovers.
If anybody wants to order this intake system, Nick here is the guy you want to order from. You can't find it cheaper anywhere else so don't waist your time lookin!:D |
Thank you for the kind words! Glad everything got to you quickly, stay safe!

See the attached pics. They are blocked from the grille area by a panel. If you wanted direct airflow, you could open the panels and run a very short tube from the fang vent and into a hole you cut in the panel. I wouldn't direct the airflow directly at the filter because I'd still be worried about spraying water directly on the filter. |
PM's replied! Thanks for the continued orders!

Nice write up OP. Mine have been sitting in the box at the shop since Aug. Waiting on other R&D products from shop before install. Saw the black chrome on a G37 and trying to get a swap from chrome to black. I am still considering modshacks addtional air flow mod but you make some very valid points and will prolly hold off for the time being. Thanks again.

Where do these things draw their aiflow from? The one time I've pulled my front fascia, those 'pockets' on either side where the filters sit seem to be completely enclosed. My sense is the airflow in there is pretty poor and sealed off. Am I wrong? Maybe the gains would really improve with a little ducting into those compartments.
|
Re-reading through the 10 pages I found Q & A's on whether there would be a benefit on routing a hose from the fang area to the filter. And where does the air come from if the compartment of the air filter (Injen CAI filter placement) is completely sealed from outside environment.
I wanted to hilight some of the points of interest to save future readers from having to read all 10 pages. Hope this helps! It did for me! Cheers Curtis Quote:

And if anyone is interested in the Modshack mod for the Injen CAI, here is the answer from Modshack and the link.

+1 Rep for doing my dirty work, ZForce. I'll have to look inside the fascia again but it sounds like air just flows in from the inboard sides of each of those 'pockets'. If I remember correctly, there wasn't much grime in those pockets when I pulled the fascia. I'd be reluctant to divert the fang vents that way and suddenly be blasting road grime all over those areas.

As to your comment on others hearing the sound, I remember seeing people who were busy doing things in their yard stop and look when they heard the sound of me kicking it in 1st or 2nd. Even had one guy call the cops on me for speeding (when I wasn't...the sound just SOUNDED like I was speeding) in our subdivision. |
Am I missing something or did this 'm4a1' fella not post his second dyno chart? :stirthepot:
|
Steve, the shop never followed through to email me the graph. I was less than impressed with their operation so I am not trying to go back and see if I can get it from them. If you want, I can draw you a graph this weekend, but honestly it looks exactly like all of the G3 and Injen charts out there. Minimal gains until 7k, where the stock airboxes fall off.
|
Rep power added! Thanks m4a1!

I'm glancing at the figures and doing some math in my head and thinnking there is somewhere around (broad estimate) a 10% "rise" in WHP off a DynoJet over the reading you got on your dyno run. So, how does that translate to figures being "more or less in line" when the HP gain Injen is printing is a 100% increase in WHP? Help an old fart out, plz... |
I just placed an order:happydance:

Quick question do any of you Injen owners hear a rattle at full throttle around 2800 rpm. like lets say you put it in 3rd gear hit the gas at 2000rpm and around 2800 you hear a rattle, Only when the windows are down.
