I had one for about six months and it sounded great but it's not for someone who wants a moderate increase in sound.

ok now i have 2 options it seems: get test pipes or change washers. I've heard that changing the test pipes causes hissing though....
As far as washers, I dont know much about

I've read that people heard hissing when they changed the test pipes.... Does that apply to all test pipes or just some?

The hiss comes from the motor itself, so you're just going to have to deal with it if you run test pipes. Even HFCs wont eliminate it completely. And the washer mod is just creating an exhaust leak under your car. Some people like it. Many do not. I'm not sparking that debate again.

geez with that said, seems like the best bang for the buck is the m2 performance muffler.

So how come it does not hiss with a stock exhaust?

Because it's got the OEM cats on it. And I'm guessing you're leaving power out of the bang for the buck equation, because HFCs or test pipes cost much less than a good exhaust and they give you much more power. I'd sooner buy one of the many used good exhausts in the marketplace before I went with Ebay anything.

so you are suggesting not to go m2 because theres no power increase.
No HFC or test pipes because of leaks or hissing...

I think i might have to dig into the bank and buy a good exhaust...
I just want a little higher tone than stock and some performance gain. Last thing i want is problems i didnt have before ... and slowing down my car obviously.

I'm not saying there's no power increase from the axle back portion, just that it's the last part I'd change if I were looking at power. Go buy a used full exhaust off the classifieds here. See if that's enough. If not, add in HFCs or test pipes later. You won't have leaks if you install them right. The hiss isn't really that bad. Certainly not anything to make your mod plans around.

Getting an axleback is NOT going to slow your car down to the point of feeling it. I literally have felt no difference in how the car feels since adding my short tails. & If you do feel anything, go buy K&N Drop Ins for $70

THAT being said, theres no power increase/performance gains. So just get some used test pipes for $150 and you'll get a little more sound and 10+whp. or wait and buy someones catback exhaust for sale for $400-500

Reviving this from the dead but it would seem these two exhausts are the same:
Dual Catback Exhaust System for VQ37DE 2010 2011 2009 Nissan 370Z | eBay

TOP SPEED PRO-1 Track Spec Catback Exhaust Systems 370Z Z34 VQ37VHR 09-13 - Top Speed Auto Accessories, Inc.

Am I wrong? All the welds look the same as well as locations of pipe sections and flanges.

Just say no to Ebay exhausts.

i have top speed test pipes and they have good welds on them and they are fine. the hiss is not unbearable. there is some rasp to them but tp's give you good gains for the money.

Revived from the dead...

So I never chose an exhaust option. I am actually thinking on putting the carbon signal diffuser add on and going with a quad tip exhaust system
