Best sounding engine IMH(but always right)O is the L28. While the VQ37 sounds more "exotic" and I do love the sound but its still a three cylinder in stereo ;P

L28 pure eargasim...

With the Turbo, my L28 is pretty muted sound-wise. Straight 6's definitely seem to have a better 'aural' harmony than V's. One of my favorites is a 3-liter Big Healey at 3,500 rpm and above.

Of course, hard to beat a Boss 302 at full chat - puts a smile on my face every time and annoys the old ladies in the neighborhood even if just cruisin' along.

Gotta go with the VR6 as well. Had a few in the club I used to hang with with a Corrado and R32....Man with exhaust those things sound gorgeous.

Also lesser known and loved were the Ford Probe GT/Mazda MX-6 V6's with Greddy exhaust. I had a GT and the Greddy exhaust note was sweet sounding for 2.5 ltrs....

Also I love the pressurized V6 note of the old 80's classics Buick GN's/GNX's....Absolutely loved em.

So far none of them sounds really good. Either the exhaust sound is to low, too raspy. Hell the sti sounds way better and much deeper and that's a 4 banger. Hopefully in the future someone will make a good sounding exhaust. Something that is loud, deep, f1 ish sound. I don't know an sti on roids.
