Install it where the Nismo muffler hanger is just hanging. That should fix it. I installed a used Nismo exhaust on my base a few weeks ago. Knew about the difference ahead of time so I had this ready. Used the metal insert and bolt from the base insulator, so if the shop trashed it, you will need to source those. Since this one is about twice as long as the shorter one from the base muffler, it worked out perfect.

So I finally got around to ordering that insulator and did notice their was no place to hang the insulator. I did see my old exhaust still had the factory rubber connector but I didn't see any removable bolts. It has a place to insert a specific bolt in the hole but I'm not sure which one. I guess I could use one of the bolt nuts from the factory exhaust and put up one from the hardware store. Any suggestions on what bolt? Just screw the bolt on or press on?

Also does anyone else have rust looking spots on the inside of the exhaust, is that normal?
