yeah I should have done the same with the gain I got *twice* with a bored TB Vs an oem TB sizing using a custom CAI.

Keeping my mount shut and discovering the big miss alignment of the lower intake manifold runners to the Intake plenum.

I just mentioned 2 big secrets :ugh2:

Think of the power mod this way... Z1 knows how to make power. They push very hard to be excellent. Their market is Nissan performance .. Specifically z cars. They have found a technique that blends a combination of parts and their tuning that gives a quantifiable positive result. The power mod is aptly named. Why should they give out the info on what they are doing to help their competition out? This is like asking a restaurant to reveal a secret ingredient to a signature dish. Maybe one day it will be a commodity that is viable profit wise to mass produce and sell. But until then it will be their edge. I am local and have the power mod but not the headers and it was a similar change in feeling as going to the f.I. exhaust. I guess I can see it through your eyes that it is hard to obtain if you can't go to z1...and that would be frustrating... But I am local... and lucky enough to have the mod. It took a few tries and attempts for me to finally get it LoL.

PS the powermod is the z1 zino sticker you see on their race cars (the domo dinosaur). They apply it right on the intake manifold with a bag of ice on top to make sure it sticks.

I understand their point of view. I am just hoping that they find a way to make this mod available to customers who aren't local. I don't want the mod for free. I am willing to pay for the mod, it just sucks that it seems that it can only be done there.

How much does Z1 charge and how much power does it add? Tuning is required?

brucelidat 09-16-2013 12:44 AM

On the phone they told me it added somewhere in the range of 10-15whp. If I am ever driving across country in the Z for some reason, I wills stop by z1, haha.

Exactly; I want the mod, I'm willing to pay, but I don't live in GA.

The only thing I can really think of is that lets say it's like the Motordyne manifold, but easier to replicate at home, they don't want to tell people what it is otherwise they "won't make money off it" and at the moment for them, they see it as, 10 locals times $500 (just throwing numbers out there) is $5000, we tell people what to do, or what it is, we get no sales...

To me this logic is flawed, because god knows Motordyne has sold a billion of those manifolds, and THEY say EXACTLY what it is, and how many people have attempted something similar? 2 that I know of... TWO, megan370Z jimmied it at home, and I made a whole ONE at my machine shop and I sold it to a friend at a loss...

Again, I don't work for Z1, and I'll step back and let them do whatever they please, it's a free country, and they already support the forum, so they get a pass by me (oh, and Dustin was cool as hell, and John is great to shoot the shít with, hell, I've never met the guy, but he KNOWS who I am as soon as I call, lol)

All that being said, I think we should crawl out of their arse and let THEM decide what's the next step, I called, I know blucelidat called, so they KNOW we are interested in this mod of theirs, lets just see what unfolds :tiphat:

brucelidat 09-16-2013 01:34 AM

first thing they asked me when I called was if I was Andrew, haha

I was told that's what they do.

And regarding my statement about their dyno, half was their "Z1 power mod" if they aren't telling people what it is, then comparing their dyno results to anyone else's is a waste of time.

1-ish for 2-ish

I simply posted that tune didn't really compare it to anyone. If I had I would have posted the tune from last Monday that made less power. We have also had a customer that we tuned that only made 309rwhp with our headers(least amount I have seen). I do believe exhaust combos have a lot to do with it.

Do you mind sharing with everybody what exhaust setup he had to only get 309 ?

this could maybe help other VVEL users to look for a better setup ! hehe

Sorry guys I'm not being racist by calling you VVEL users.. haha

I might need to wait for someone to dyno them with HFCs then since I do not plan to switch to TPs. I know TPs make more than HFCs, but I am hearing that the headers might make more in addition tot hat diff depending on if they are paired with TPs vs HFCs as well.
