Which engine are you guys generally talking about for the Stang. If i remember rightly there are a few options. A couple of guys here in AUS have gotten versions crated over and they do sound great.

Edit - 200th post YEAH (Random i know).

4.6L 4v DOHC. The 4-valve and 2-valve 4.6L Mustangs are the best sounding modern American V8's, IMO. The 5.4 liter and the newer 3-valve 4.6Ls don't sound quite as nice.

It took a LOT for me to choose a V6 over a V8. I'd be lying if I told you I was 100% happy with my choice. I really need both, so hopefully in the next year or two I can afford to pick up a Cobra.

Luckily for me, though, my gf drives a CLK 500 and we are having a custom exhaust system built for it in a couple weeks. 5-liter V8.

but yea your gonna love the exhaust! sounds sickk!

As per my Dyno sheet it does at least FEEL better in the top end. It definitely feel more responsive through out the Rev range also which is the best improvement.

Thats the main thing for me is the sound. The fact we get a few more HP from it all is a great bonus.

not too much out there that sounds better than a modular 4.6L V8 4V with headers and catback!!!

did u get around 18whp gains on a dyno jet?

the Takeda's didnt give a lot of power if im correct.

i personally look at POWER gains first. then the sound :)

Agreed. The pushrod GM engines generally sound like crap.

Here's my old GT with off-road X pipe and Magnaflow CB.

I don't think Tony will mind that we're keeping his thread up near the top.

So is the GM V's Ford V8's rivalry just as passionate over there as it is here in AUS - Holden V Ford (Pontiac G8 etc. i think they are/were).

Sry for the OT Tony. STill about exhaust sound sort of.

i cant wait for Tony's long tube headers. i hope we get some crazy numbers on the power gains and i hope the sound is straight up BEAST!

Oh yeah, it's definitely just as fierce over here. HUGE rivalry!

You've got the GM V8's in one corner which are crude, HUGE push rods that rock a lot of power. Then you've got Ford with the smaller, OHC engines that really, really love boost and gear.

I'm a Ford guy through and through.

My dyno was done on a Dyno Dynamics, which i think is similar to the US versions that it tends to read lower than the Dynojet's (at least here they do). It was all in the top end really, but the responsiveness was impressive.

yeah man im ANTICIPATING those long tube headers! the video i seen on a 350z made it sound like a straight up RACE CAR lol. it didnt RAWR, it literally SCREAMED lmao. hopefully Tonys headers give a BEASTY SOUND. cuz our exhaust sound EXOTIC SEXY. the headers sounding BEAST would be str8 up SEX. LOL!

i wanna hear your exhasut once u get it installed man.

That Vid is nuts. I would love the Longtubes as well, although it is probably unlikely that we will be able to get them done, due to us having the steering wheel on the correct side of the car:stirthepot:.

I a bid V8 fan, especially for there lazy POWER and great sound. That's one of the things that has tipped me for F.I.s exhaust was the sound. Also with getting the RTP's it's just going to be that little bit meaner.

sorry for the confusion...i meant to say that i respect the holden v8's...just dont like the way most modern v8 gm's sound these days...

Ah, no confusion my friend all's good. Like the US we are no different. I have preference for the Holden (LS3) than the Ford (Boss 5.0ltr). Unfortunately for the Ford guys they dont get the cracking engines you guys do. Although the next round of updates is meant to be bringing in the "Coyote" versions (I think that was the model name).

I feel ya man...I got rid of my '06 Stang GT with Roush supercharger and magnaflow high-flow catted x-pipe to get my Z. It was a tough decision...one I never thought I could make! I think about the 450+ HP that I had and the sweet exhaust note that I had with my stang and I wonder, "what's wrong with me?" Then I remember that I have a sweet new Z with plenty of power and way better gas mileage! Oh well, you only live once...might as well get a taste of everything once!

And the Mustang-haters are going to really hate this, but the 370Z's 3.7L V6 drives almost exactly like Ford's 4.6L V8. They feel almost identical in terms of power and power delivery!

That is because this little 3.7L makes more power and torque from the factory than the 4.6L 2V! This car would kick the crap out of that car stock to stock, excluding the Mach 1 and 03-04 Cobra of course.

Let's match it up against my red one though. Ha, ha, ha!!!
