What is your set up?

Thanks

Yes, you can still see 'em! :yum: Check back a few pages on this thread and you'll see 'em. When I called Tony to order mine, I expressed concern about scraping, and thats when he told me that little tidbit. It's not much, I think it was like a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch, but Tony will have to confirm as I don't remember precisely.

As per Tony when I ordered mine, the lowest part of the can will be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch HIGHER than the Stock Exhaust.

Does anyone have this "new" version installed? I would like to see how it sits as opposed to the "old" version...............

The Dimer 02-05-2012 09:51 PM

I will in April :ugh2:

CBE + HFC and the Berk CBE+ HFC and I'm curious if the power gains and sound is similar or does one have an advantage over the other. The Berk looks like the Oem exhaust and I've noticed the F.I. sits fairly low and I was wondering if the FI exhaust would bottom out or scrape.

I can say with my First Gen FI CBE that I've never scraped, and even lowered 1" all around. As long as you approach obstacles correctly and not at too excessive speed, you won't scrape.

Ditto here... Never scraped, and have yet to hear anything on a Z, more lovely than the F. I. system!

Ah I see...is it true that the newer batch of FI CBE sits higher than slightly older ones? Is it confirmed or has someone compared them?

Yes, the '2nd Gen' FI exhaust's have the angles of the cans changed so they sit higher up. The primary complaint from buyers was they 'appeared to sit low, and people worried they would scrape'. So the piping was redone to elevate the lowest edge from the ground.

anthonyy 02-06-2012 10:58 AM

I'll take the higher cans with mine :icon17:! Thanks Tony

The mufflers sit higher as standard practice now. They have for about 10 months!

Thanks, Tony

Good to know! This was my only concern.

flashburn 02-06-2012 04:03 PM

If I already have the original FI exhaust, can I easily just swap out with the newer higher ones? I got some scrapes/dents on mine. :(

Is there much of a power / sound difference between the 3 and the 2.5?

Cheers!

TerribleONE 02-06-2012 04:37 PM

The 3" is designed for a turbo car as they don't need any back pressure.. I cannot comment on the sound yet though.. As I have not heard one in person.. I'm sure it sounds sick though and the gains will be worth it on a boosted car

harry370z 02-06-2012 04:40 PM

How about on a N/A car?

TerribleONE 02-06-2012 04:45 PM

On an N/A car you will suffer some low end and mid range loss and gain a little more up top I would assume.. The standard 2.5" is the way to go if you plan on staying N/A

Congrats in advance. This is like waiting for the doctor to step out of the delivery room and tell you everything went good and you are the proud Daddy of a healthy FI system...!! I know I will be taking the day off waiting on the delivery guy - As soon as that truck stops at my door, I'm gonna be on him like white on rice to make sure he is not abusing my system out of his truck...! :shakes head: :eekdance: :bowrofl:

It's not the delivery guy I'd be worried about...

You know Tony puts his own personal 'touch' on every exhaust he sends out... :ugh2: So make sure to inspect it for any strange streaks... :ugh2:

Now that's some funny right there!

I'm all like GIGGITY!
:excited:
My exhaust should be ready any day now!

roplusbee 02-07-2012 12:28 PM

Good to know that the can sit higher. Maybe I won't smash this one up like my current one. I have a few evil driveways that I eventually have to tackle and the angle is extreme. Sad thing is that one of them is at my house!

I will be in touch soon Tony!

This is a message to Tony and his team for awesome customer service and a wonderful product. Anyone thinking about getting an awesome setup, please contact Tony. He knows his stuff and is extremely helpful. The final product is awesome. Wow!! The sound = much beefier, no rasp, nada drone.....get Tony to install it.

Thank you so much. I'm enjoying the exhaust note and its definitely a head-turner.

I got the CF version with 18inch resonators and kept my stock cats. The sound is just purrrrfect! :)

Also, i was the first to get the F.I. decals. Thanks Tony and i can't wait to see what you got with the TT kit coming soon!

I'll post pictures up this weekend. :)

anthonyy 02-07-2012 03:18 PM

^ very nice! That's the setup I'm going with as well. Looking forward to pics
