I just wanna know what the difference in sound is vs:

LTH's 18" Res CBE CF

LTH's 18" Res CBE SS

If you have vids of the two, I'm sold. I can't decide on CF or SS cans... I think the CF will look sick, but you reccomend SS and I don't want to go against your expertise...

I do not have comparison videos. My recommendation is that you go with the SS cans because it will sound cleaner! To me the sound is very important and if I had to make a decision over the looks can wise or the sound I would always pick the sound.

Ouch to those who purchased the CF cans :icon14:

...like me.

Can you explain "Cleaner" (I'm not attuned to the different sounds of the VQ engine, and not surrounded by your exausts in the shop), so to me... without prior experience, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can.

Yeah ouch

tony reply to my PM if you have the time

Jamaica 06-22-2010 05:29 PM

hell no i love the carbon fiber exhaust.

Xan 06-22-2010 05:40 PM

By cleaner I believe he means that the SS filters out a little more of the higher frequencies and as these frequencies appear more in peaks then in constant tones, the SS has a bit more of narrower frequency band of sounds that are audible.
And as a result it will sound a little smoother. Personally I like the CF sound better as I feel it gives the sound more personality.

dlmartin81 06-22-2010 07:11 PM

Why is everyone freaking out now because of what Tony said. I'm sure you'll all be very happy with your product, whether it's SS or CF mufflers. My God.....is everyone callin up Tony to change their orders?

There are a tone of videos out there of both CF and SS mufflers. Yes, there is a subtle difference but if you didn't know that by now, then shame on you for not doing your homework by looking at the vids.

Me, I prefer the sound of SS than of the CF. BUT, if F.I. only produced CF mufflers, I'd get them w/o thinking twice. And I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem here because you'd have nothing to compare it too...and the fact that it sounds awesome to begin with.

TX_370 06-22-2010 07:12 PM

Oh Man! Its being built!! :excited:

G37Sam 06-22-2010 07:33 PM

I have to disagree with you Tony, the CF mufflers sounded much sexier than the SS ones on my friends car, even my friend now wants to switch to CF lol

I made a comparison video but my friend had HFCs and I had Res TPs so it wouldn't be a fair comparison

Bottom line is, even it if it's made from plastic, if it's coming from Tony it'll be eargasmic!

Majestik -- did you ever get your stuff installed yet? I'm really curious about the RHFC and you're the only one that I know who ordered and received them. Any chance of a review (and maybe video too) ?

Tony has shipped it to my Bongo address which is being consolidated with other items I'm shipping from the US. Fingers crossed that I'll be ready to ship all to Australia sometime this week. It will then take a
week to get here.

I will update here the moment I've got it installed.

Yes yes. I do see what you're saying and I believe you to be right..

Now can anyone tell me if the packaging from FI will fit in the cargo area of the 370z or will I need to transport it to my auto shop in a different car..

LunaZ 06-23-2010 07:03 AM

In the box, it is not going to fit in your Z. No way, no how.

Vegitto-kun 06-23-2010 07:15 AM

I wonder what happened to tony. it's almost like he died.

What do you mean? Didn't he like chime in a few times yesterday? I wouldn't expect him to sit around his PC answering questions on his thread. He's busy building us exhaust components.

Vegitto-kun 06-23-2010 08:24 AM

Ah, I havent seen him online in about 4-5 days

All I said was I feel the Carbon fiber did not sound as clean and smooth with headers. If you are not doing the headers than the carbon fiber is the way to go in my opinion. The difference in sound from the stainless to the carbon is so minimal as long as you do not put the headers on the car.

However, I do not feel that the carbon and headers sound bad. I just gave my opinion as to what I like. Everyone is different and everyone wants something different. Remember sound is subjective!

Actually, as he's previously posted, he's getting Married soon, so he's running around like an exhaust maker missing a resonator!

Take the parts out of the box and they will fit into the Z. The box is way too large!

Juruki 06-23-2010 02:18 PM

is the going rate around 3 CBEs per week?

dlmartin81 06-23-2010 04:18 PM

^^ It was 5 to 7 for a while. However, that last couple of weeks it has been a little less.

TX_370 06-23-2010 04:24 PM

About 5 per week is what Tony quoted me when i purchased. However, it has actually been around 3. I am not complaining because i know Tony makes quality parts and I will not be disappointed.
