maybe I should try to find a local nismo z to bring into the shop for test fitment.. hmm

Thank you Khoi! You the man!

Sales@AAMComp 10-04-2012 03:03 PM

k, got a local nismo guy swinging by on Tuesday. We are going to take estimates and basically mock fit our h-pipe, again our h-pipe was designed for the true dual and not as a replacement piece only so we will see how far off it is or whether it'll work or not!

but we just want to cover some bases first and maybe send out a set discounted for someone to test fit since we don't have a nismo z here to test fit it

It's true, I have volunteered my vehicle for the cause.

Khoi, I'm still debating if I want even more raw sound versus keeping my hearing by the time I'm 35.

I'm going to swing by Khoi's shop on Tuesday evening and he's going to take measurements.

Thanks man! I really appriciate your participation in making this come true for us Nismo guys.

chops 10-04-2012 10:09 PM

if this fits my nismo and is reasonably priced (none of that $700 sunline, $2000 amuse BS)....

Sales@AAMComp 10-05-2012 07:14 AM

hahaha Chops

is the nismo h-pipe really that restrictive? I think the best of both worlds will be when we develop the h-pipe/midpipe combo that bolts to the stock rear section, that should open things up more

I'd be down for this! When and if I get a meisterchaft rear muffler, I will just add my stock resonators back on and get the perfect sound. But I want to hear this setup with the stock Nismo exhaust. Can you pm me the price range for both h pipe and midpipe? Thanks Khoi! :tiphat:

dmhenderson 10-05-2012 01:32 PM

Edit: NM apparently missed your FB message. Just talk to you there.

well the opening from the cat's (HFC has a 2.5" outlet) to the h-pipe is a 2.125" wide inlet. from there, it shrinks down to a 2" outlet before it hits the rest of the mid-pipe. i'd say theres a pretty large restriction there...

Sales@AAMComp 10-05-2012 11:02 PM

so just imagine when we develop this h-pipe + midpipe combo.. 2.5" from the cats all the way to the rear section! open it up!

You're gonna need to start developing a little faster!

Sales@AAMComp 10-06-2012 06:41 AM

well after 10 pages of interest and explaining to the production team what exactly I'd like developed, I am pretty sure this piece has moved up on our R&D schedule.

Realistically I just need two pipes fabricated (the midpipe); however I'd like for us to redesign the h-pipe to make it a nismo oem replacement if it isn't already

Tomorrow is the day!

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 12:46 PM

Actually no, I have a club meet tomorrow so I can't head up to Annapolis until Thurs/Fri this week. Waiting to hear back from Khoi as to which day works best for his shop.

Sales@AAMComp 10-08-2012 01:41 PM

my bad DM, had to clear it with the engineer first, but Thursday is looking good. He wont be here Friday. We'll confirm everything in a couple days

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 01:45 PM

Thurs will work.

Sales@AAMComp 10-08-2012 02:17 PM

hey guys,

Length wise, is the nismo H pipe the same length as the DE/HR Y pipe?

I ask this because we just put up our aftermarket 2.5" h pipe to our aftermarket 3" y-pipe, which replaces all DE/HR y-pipes and it is much longer

http://www.the370z.com/members/toxik...-wp-000013.jpg

take this picture for reference, our 2.5" H pipe ends after that cross brace

johncy2000 10-08-2012 02:43 PM

I can't wait!

Sales@AAMComp 10-08-2012 03:49 PM

guys I'm feeling extremely skeptical as I think our 2.5" h pipe is longer than the oem nismo's

need someone to confirm this :(

good news is you nismo guys will have to buy the h pipe/midpipe combo

How much is the H pipe/midpipe combo?

Sales@AAMComp 10-08-2012 04:20 PM

Johncy, unfortunately this is still extremely far out, I can't determine price until the product is developed

I really don't even have a ball park yet, sorry

similar to what 370z purist, phil is running

he has unres test pipes, upgrade y-pipe, stock midpipe, and short tails

his videos alone made my ears go def :icon18:

**** is LOUD. raspy, too. I kinda like the rasp (and it seems to have gone down in intensity a bit) but it's too much for me to be able to drive normally. last thing I want is a trumpet right next to a cop as I merge onto a faster road.

Here's the video for reference.

I'll try to get a video today. I'm just glad this isn't my daily anymore lol. Not that it sounds bad, I think it sounds amazing! But DDing this would be brutal.

I drive my zed as a weekend car and it can get pretty brutal. I still love it, but I'll be moving to a catback.

(gonna keep the short tails so I can test the midpipe prototype!)

I actually thought it would be a lot more raspy to be honest. It's pretty smooth to me. There is actually a point cruising at 3k where I can get the car to almost be silent if I have to :icon14:

My powerband looks (sounds) like...

1k--->3k deep bassy V8 rumble

3k--->4.5k blatttt punchyouintheface brutality

4.5k--->7k racecar scream

In summary, if there is a cop within a mile radius of you while you're over 4.5k with this setup... good luck lol :ugh2:

johncy2000 10-12-2012 04:59 PM

Any updates on this Khoi?

Sales@AAMComp 10-12-2012 06:03 PM

no progress.. sorry guys

this month has our production team running in circles, everyone is trying to get mods in last minute before it gets too cold so we kind of got slammed and backlogged for a bit

johncy2000 10-12-2012 06:14 PM

No worries.

johncy2000 10-12-2012 06:15 PM

Do you think a competent exhaust shop can custom make me an Hpipe?

Any competent shop can, yes.

JC671 10-13-2012 07:02 AM

I'm interested and would buy ..

I currently have the Ark Grip. Hate how low it sits at the cans area. Inquired to see if the short tails could mate/fit the existing mid pipe if I just got the short tails and eliminated the Ark rear exhaust.

Response I got was no. Could not find any company that makes a mid pipe from the cat - back and ends at the stock location .

1. I want short tails
2. Need catback-mid section that will fit the short tails.
3. Don't want to run the smallish stock piping just to run the short tails.

I'm getting my FI LTH soon and would want to run the same size piping or bigger than stock and use the short tails. I would want 12 inch resonators or none on my mid pipe and use short tails. BTW I don't care if it's loud. I'm tired of my car being so damn quiet with the ark. I can't even hear my car in my videos at the track. I got every other car drowning out the sound of my car :-(
