Still no update?

We just received a stock nismo h-pipe and midpipe thanks to a forum member, dmhenderson
We should be making some solid progress from here. I just did a rough measurement of the stocker and I was a bit surprised at how small the stock exhaust is! the inlet of the stock nismo H pipe is about 2 1/4" and the outlet where it meets the midpipe is about 2 1/8", same with the inlet of the midpipe, after the resonators the piping gets slightly larger again to 2 1/4" so the outlet of the midpipe meeting the rear section is about 2 1/4" Not sure why the piping changes sizes but I can definitely see Nismo guys upgrading their h-pipe/midpipe to a full 2.5" dumping out to their stock rear section for some good increase in sound and performance stay tuned.. |
So ready. Do you think there would be enough room for some resonators Khoi?

I'll take it now!
How would it sound with the stock nismo exhaust if you just change the H-pipe? |

CHEERS!! |
oh trust me, you will WANT to upgrade both pieces.. the H pipe about as thick as my sharpie aka very very small diamter, and it mates into the midpipe which is about the same diameter
read a few post up when I measured both of them. Instead of these awkward diameters, it will be a straight 2.5" from the H-pipe, to midpipe, then you can mate it up to the stock rear section! This will unlock some power for sure! It's kind of hard to tell but you can see the pipe before the resonator (towards the bottom of the pic) is slightly smaller than the piping after the resonator, it's an awkward bottlenecking system. |

rear section is done and here are some pics of it tacked up. The h-pipe portion should be easy, hoping to have this all up and running very shortly here guys!!
Smallest set back would be clearance, which shouldn't be any worst than any true dual systems that do not criss cross in the rear. A few reasons why we did it the way we did, 1) least amount of bends, better flow 2) less bends = less welds, less chances of cracking, less labor, less cost!! As you can see the midpipe is almost at the same angle as the rear muffler, shooting straight up, no turbulence there https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-X...0/IMG_3988.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-x...0/IMG_3989.JPG here you can see the difference in piping size! Our system vs the stock! https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-c...0/IMG_3990.JPG https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-X...0/IMG_3991.JPG straight out https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-x...0/IMG_3992.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4...0/IMG_3993.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-R...0/IMG_3999.JPG |
That looks nice!

yesterday the H-pipe portion was tack welded up, except the horizontal cross piece. This piece should finish on Monday
Hopefully we can test this out with the stock rear section and short tails very shortly after. After the initial test, the jigs will be made so they can go into product. AND THEN there will be an official release with all the information and pricing |
rear section wedled up, h-pipe needs the cross piece and should be done here in no time!

Looks good!

Can't wait for a sound clip with stock exhaust an then your shortie's so looking forward to it.
|
if aam offered a full CBE(like this with the short tail exhaust) i would buy it, i love the way the short tails sound so more of that noise will just be sex to my ears

Short Tails will be sold separately, so will the midpipe, we will package the 2 together for a "package" discount for those who just want to run straight pipes! |
Totally interested!! Would love to see the Mid/H pipes on my NISMO with OEM muffler section and LTHs!

but you'll get the gist of it! |
testing our first prototype piece today on a stock 370z. Customer already had our short tails!
sound clips with the short tails to come, we will not be doing a dyno/sound testing with the stock rear section so we will be offering a discounted rate for a 370z that wants to test this midpipe combo on their stock rear section in exchange for a review and sound clip! |
we redid the intermediate section to have better clearance with the sway bar, pics of the completed H-pipe here!

and time to strap it back down on the dyno

370z with AAM Competition S-Line Short Tails 281 whp 233 ft lbs of torque
370z with AAM Competition S-Line Midpipe + S-Line Short Tails 301 whp 252 ft lbs of torque +20whp +19 ft lbs of torque gains would be higher if we compared from stock to this combination!! dyno chart coming shortly! |

Did you tune it as well or just add the mid pipe?
|
whoa, I disappear for a bit and these are done! awesome.
No one has volunteered to run only straight pipe? I have unres. test pipes and the short tails. I can't even imagine the noise. |
nothing else done to the car, everything was on the stock tune
dyno graph and vids coming shortly! I just road in it and it sounds amazing, highway cruising the db reader was mid 90s, WOT right around 105db sounds awesome! |
