Does CF really makes that much of a difference in the sound? I have a SS CBE with 18" res on order (#808). Should I consider going with a CF instead? I actually like the look of the SS exhaust better.

The CF is thinner than the SS so it let's more of the resonant sound permeate the walls. This gives you a slightly higher pitched (more exotic, ferrari, labo, etc.) sound.

You will have increased Volume as a side effect though. So if you're planning on running Headers and/or TPs, and volume is not something you want, it's a debatable point.

The looks though... omfg, they are

I have 18 res cf. stock cats. I've never heard a ss in person but cf makes me orgasm every time i get on it. I like the stealthy look of the cf. Looks wise, it's just personal preference. call tony, he can assist you

It really sucks nobody around my way has these so I can hear them and I don't pay much attention to vids, but I'm just about to switch my order to CF's and hope its worth it.

Here is what I tell everyone when choosing SS vs CF.

1) The Carbon Fiber will sound a little more exotic and promote more of a Euro tone opposed to the Stainless Steel being smoother and deeper.

2) The Carbon Fiber is lighter than the Stainless Steel by roughly 6 pounds overall.

In the end make the choice mostly based on the aesthetics. The other reasons play a small part in the equation. Now I am biased to the Carbon Fiber because I love the way it looks! Everyone wants something different therefore we have different options.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Thank you, Tony

I like you Chris but I have to correct you on this one. The Carbon Fiber sleeve is technically not thinner than the Stainless Steel case. The reason it dissipates the sound differently is mainly due to the material characteristic of one to the other. It is also due to the way Carbon Fiber muffler seals to the end cap vs the Stainless Steel being welded all the way around.

Thanks, Tony

No worries Tony... I was trying to figure out the right way to explain it.

Did you happen to see my post on the FI Facebook page in regards to the Oil Filter relocation?
