Cheapest Way to Louder & Lower Exhaust Note

Not sure if this is possible but can anyone recommend the cheapest way to just get a little more volume out of a 2012 370Z/non-nismo and maybe a little lower tone as well?

Intake maybe, HFC maybe, Nismo S-Tune maybe? Not sure...thx

FuszNissan 05-29-2012 11:03 AM

AAM's shorty's sound amazing. Nice sound, easy install and you can get Ti tips now.

henry0844 05-29-2012 11:11 AM

super cheap would be to remove resonators. AAM shortys would do great too!!

jdsuowner 05-29-2012 11:12 AM

Holy crap Fuzz just listened to a clip of those shorty's and they sound great!

FuszNissan 05-29-2012 12:05 PM

They will surprise you. I heard them under load in person and couldn't believe it was just AAM shorty's.

sfearl1 05-29-2012 12:21 PM

I'm going with the AAM's as a fix to hold me over until I get my mid-mount build sorted

 the ti tips look pretty damn sexy as well

jdsuowner 05-29-2012 01:07 PM

Are there any alternatives simlilar to the shortys, other brands etc, that might give similar sound?

sfearl1 05-29-2012 01:18 PM

I think Megan makes a muffler delete option. I can't comment on quality or sound.

jdsuowner 05-29-2012 02:01 PM

From reading some posts, when doing the muffler delete won't you need an uptune to get the low end power back? If so then its really an $800 or so pricetag for both no?

RandyD 05-29-2012 02:14 PM

lovin my AAM ti-tips..

Rui Z 05-29-2012 02:17 PM

Do the washer mod for $20.

I did a muffler delete for $140 plus a $20 tip for stopping what he was doing and throwing my car on the rack. Cut the piping right after the axel back flange so as to bolt a factory one back up, bend pipes, cut off factory tips and weld on, weld on new exhaust hangers using factory location. Didnt even have to remove the shield from the evac or evap thing, then shot the piping with hi-temp matte black paint. Sounds beastly now. Planning on going back and having him make a custom x-pipe. Quoted me another $140 to do that and throw it on. The guys does mostly rat rods, so he thought it wa crazy to have such a new car on his rack. Good friend of mine.

How do the AAM Short Pipes compare in sound tone and loudness to a stock 370z and berk HFC?

Also would a Nismo S-Tune muffler hook straight up to a standard 370Z? Would it sound deeper and louder as well?

From what I've heard, I think the Shorty's will be louder and a nicer sound than Stock Exhaust + HFC's.

I don't believe the Nismo Muffler will hook up to a stock Z mid section. Though I'm not 100% positive.

corbin09 05-29-2012 03:53 PM

The stock Nismo muffler wont bolt up to an OEM base mid section. The nismo muffler is not what you are going to want if you are looking for "sound"

sparky 06-02-2012 09:52 AM

I like the short tails and would try them but I'm concerned about drone.
This is a DD and I don't know if I could take it. :icon14:

RandyD 06-02-2012 10:00 AM

minimal drone on mine... (in a roadster too)
they are tunes to be loudest at 4k rpm... which is generally not where you cruise.

sfearl1 06-02-2012 10:30 AM

I ordered mine yesterday, should be here next week!

sparky 06-02-2012 11:21 AM

Thanks for the input RandyD.

Looking forward to your comments Sfearl1.

I may try these, at least it's easy to go back to stock.
Wakin' up the neighbours, yes! :icon17:

Japanjay 06-02-2012 01:08 PM

At normal cruising it will sound like they are not there, completely stock. Lay in the throttle and you get the smile.

Yeah, I have test pipes too. Dan (guy in the vid) said everyone loved the sound of the AAM's on his car.

They're so amazing. I want to eventually go fast intentions. My aam will do for now ;) especially with the looks I get

mpp9 06-02-2012 03:07 PM

Anyone have hfc or a y-pipe with the aam short-tail? That'd be an interesting budget combo.

6spd 06-02-2012 06:14 PM

I have the S-tune exhaust. Its definitely not what you are looking for. Its really quite, just much deeper and smoother than stock, but not louder.

Damn you guys I wanted to post that! LOL still funny as hell.

MaDMaXX 06-04-2012 07:36 PM

What the hell is he doing in neutral at 60MPH? ??!!

MacLean 06-04-2012 09:18 PM

Actually "the cheapest" & "THE WORST WAY" is just get rid of the effen exhaust all together & run headers only.

CrownR426 06-05-2012 04:08 PM
