Poor driving skill.

Well, if you popped off the entire exhaust, it wouldn't just leak uncatalyzed exhaust, it would blow uncatalyzed exhaust. At least if a cop pulls you over, you can still say you have a catalytic converter, lol

Just get AAM S-Line short tails. They are well made, and super easy to install. The sound is amazing, but at cruising its quiet. The road noise washes most of the exhaust note out. They are super quality and come in Ti tip now and both look amazing. I am very pleased with mine and my Z is a DD. Also, if you ever change your mind and want to swap exhaust for another set up you will be able to sell the short tails for a good return. Just my opinion, get them.

Mine arrive tomorrow!

sfearl1 your going to love them! Put them on ASAP too. They do mellow out btw. I'm not sure how since its just pipes...

MaDMaXX 06-06-2012 08:55 PM

They carbon up, all exhausts do that to a degree, it helps 'soften/mellow' the sound a little :)

Do you have test pipes or hfc's? I'm expecting it to be pretty loud w/ non-resonated test pipes...

USAFZDRIVER 06-06-2012 09:43 PM

My exhaust is stock with the exception of the short tails. At idle its a mellow low grumble/ gurgle. cruising is quiet. WOT is insane!. TP's or HFC's would be wild! The drone is at 4-4.5k rpm, but honestly isn't that bad. You can still hear stereo or have a conversation fine. After about 500 miles it settles down and sounds even better.

 Very nice. I'll post a few vids after installation.

I am thinking of slapping in an ebay y-pipe or maybe a custom fab x-pipe instead of TP's or HFC's. Cheaper and easier install and close enough gains... I have enough sound, just want more flow without being illegal in any state. I should post pics or a vid but i am lazy and there are plenty around the forum/ net anyways.

Motordyne XYZ pipe, proven best merge point for optimum torque and power.

a bastardized, frankenstein style exhaust would be what I was dreaming up one day; install test pipes, ebay y pipe, then aam short tails. essentially a full exhaust, minus the midpipe.

You'd have to go all the way and remove the resonators from the mid-pipes.

At that point I'd probably have spent enough for a proper system, even!
