Will these fit a Nismo and will the instructions actually address the Nismo installation.

Also just a recommendation but maybe including a paper template for the "trimming" would be a good idea, that way the installer doesn't have to guess at how much to actually trim.

No you wont Pat you dont even have a Z anymore :)

agree on non-oiled filters. Its too easy for most people to over oil them and then mess up the MAF. Creates an avenue for people to bad-mouth the product when its user error. Need to remove as much possibility of user error....

I've a completey stock 2012 Z. If you need a bone stock ride to test these on, I'd be willing to drive up from Va and take some video, dyno and pictures of the install if you're willing to give me a discount on the parts and tune? Hey, never hurts to ask right? Mine is a Daily Driver, 600 miles a week, so if you want to test these out for the long haul, let me know. Nothing like helping out a Gulf War Vet from time to time?

Will there be any chance in Ordering a set to get them Powdercoated? And will the Black silicone connectors be the only colors offered?

Just asking purely for aesthetic ideas... The kit looks great, really liking the single pipes with as little cutting as necessary.

I'm guessing these filters will need the same cleaning necessary for the K&N Drop ins, every 3-5k?

Kevin@AkumaMS 07-21-2012 09:29 AM

- Yes we of course want people to get excited about them, but what is more important is seeing how they are designed and the process it takes which is why this thread was started in the first place. We like to educate the community in anyway possible. You just dont see that enough and it is even more important for the customers and supporters to understand how everything is working and that these decisions were made with good reasoning behind it

Kevin@AkumaMS 07-21-2012 09:45 AM

They will fit the nizmo and theres no need for a template because it requires just minimal trimming

So let me get this right, you're selling them as brushed aluminum? I'm guessing that is for reasons concerning cost? I'm fine with brushed aluminum, it's not a big deal, again, mostly an aesthetic sort of thing. I've always been big on the shiny aluminum pipes inside the engine bay.

Perhaps Z1 will carry these and offer to powdercoat them to buyers.

Cleaning the filters would depend on where you live. Dusty places near deserts obviously more so than cleaner air like ... in places where the air is cleaner.

Kevin@AkumaMS 07-25-2012 02:25 PM

Yes brushed aluminum is what we offer them in. For now we will have to leave the powdercoating up to the customer however in the future who knows :driving:

Can we get some more detailed pics of how the brushed aluminum looks? (When completely installed?)

I'm assuming it will hold up to the elements/fingerprints/scratches alright?

AkumaMS 07-26-2012 07:04 AM

The intakes will be offered in polished or powdercoated. The brushed is only for the first few sets I am putting together here. We typically go with gloss black. Depending on the demand we may do a special run of Dormant Purple or another color. Perhaps we will put up a poll on what you guys want. We have a set going in a car next week.

We should be taking deposits this week and shipping the polished or powder coated final units with in a few weeks. I have a place in Cali that does our bending so it will depend on his schedule. We have the filters and couplers in stock so the full roll out should go very smoothly.

Sorry for the spotty info and lengthy roll out, but I just want to be sure we have the very best product possible. I am really stoked about this kit, and I think you guys will love them when you get them.

I should have some pick of our prototype Rear Diff Cooler kit this evening as well. That is also going to be a cool kit. 4" fan(sealed), thermostatically controlled pump, no drilling or removal of the rear diff required.... but first thing first, we need to get the intakes out to you guys...lol

Cheers! :driving:

Z1 will be getting a set for them to mess around with. We want their input as a dealer as well. The guys over there are very cool and have a good business going, so if all works out and they like the kits, I think they would be an amazing asset.

The brushed is just a finish I really like. They are easily cared for and no need to worry about scratches...just use a 3M pad and she is good to go. Having said that, we will offer polished or p-coat in the final run. I personally opt for the brushed, as I like that finish, but it may not be for everyone. I actually first saw the brushed finish from a company in the Subaru market, and thought it was pretty cool...not really a cost related thing as the other finishes are not really expensive. The custom color runs can be a little bit, but definitely doable.

Here are some pics of our EVO X pipe kit that we did in colors....

At this cost, just go FI

AkumaMS 07-26-2012 10:27 AM

That makes no sense at all.... FI? You are talking about $500 versus 8-10K for FI. Silly comparo...lol

Just as a possible request, could you do a Red matching the color of the 40th Edition calipers.

Wonder how it would look with the black couplers. :icon08:

My only worry is I already have the Z1 Red Silicone in the engine bay, and was hoping to have red couplers with black pipes... red pipes might be overload. Hmmm... Maybe the brushed metal ones might look better?? :icon08:

Kevin@AkumaMS 08-03-2012 09:25 AM

The only color couplers we have are in black. We are taking request for powder coating colors so please do share what you guys want and that way we can get an idea of what colors to make. So far we have:

-Red(Matching Calipers)
-Dormant Purple
-Monterrey Blue

Kevin@AkumaMS 08-03-2012 09:28 AM

And I think the brushed metal would look very good with the red setup

MyKindaGuise 08-03-2012 09:57 AM

Will there be another thread for the 'Official sales', or are you already taking orders? Without backtracking a few pages, I wasn't 100% sure if you had the product where you wanted it yet.

Kevin@AkumaMS 08-09-2012 12:41 PM

Hey everyone we just talked to our mandrel benders and will be able to offer our first set of kits at a heavily discounted rate of $400. We are currently taking pre orders so DONT MISS OUT!! (Expected turn around time 2-3 weeks.)

Pm'ed

lemon-fresh 08-09-2012 02:34 PM

Does installation require widening of the front bumper support?

Do you need to get a tune after install?

Will there be a group buy?

Cafiax 08-09-2012 02:51 PM

any dyno sheets?
