I heard you want to wait until you have at least 5k miles on your car before installing a CAI. I like the way Takeda looks more than the Stillen CAI. I am not a huge fan of cutting something out of the front bumper. Does the Takeda CAI come with a bypass value, or is that something that you have to purchase separately & install? Is there huge differences is sounds & performance gains from short, or long CAI's?
The Takeda Stage 2 Intake requires no cutting/drilling to the bumper. Just a straight bolt on installation.

found the link for the splash guard

Cold Air Intake System Takeda aFe Power Takeda Stage-2 PRO DRY S Intake Systems; Splash Shield: TA-3016P TA-3016S - aFe Power

plus i just found a dyno sheet for the takeda

15hp/16tq, 3hp less for $100 less then the stillen......seems very worth it to me.
Your right, the shield will protect most of the rain that might hit the filter. However, the filter would need to be soaked/fully submerged in water to even get enough water hydrolock the motor.

Here's a video of the Takeda Stage 2 Intake installed on our G37:
