Someone please post some pics and DIY of installation too... Look like another good intake.

I second this, I'd love to see a DIY for this particular intake. Or at least a set of written instructions posted in a PDF to glance over. I'm sure it's very straight forward, but I'd still like to get a visual idea.

Whenever I get around to doing another engine mod it will most likely be this intake.

Nice Drew you got this? I've been hovering over this thread since it started, looking for some good feedback on the drive.

:iagree: I have been waiting for some one to do a review on this and hear some more of the communities opinions on this vs ones we have already herd for other CAI systems

kdo2milger 05-28-2012 07:02 PM

hopefully these dont have the ac line rubbing issue that the stillen does

864Zbeast 05-28-2012 07:17 PM

I want :)

iceman21_23 05-28-2012 09:28 PM

ordered some today...

MacLean 05-28-2012 11:43 PM

Man $378 is a pretty effen sweet deal. So what is the big difference b/w the Takeda & Stillen CAI besides that the Stillen has two filters & Takeda only has one filter & the actual price? What kind of hp gains are we talking about & is there a night & day difference b/w the two?

From what I've read... no big difference. Either way, we are talking about a CAI on a N/A motor... it's not going to work magic. :vuvuzela2:

LOL........ I wouldn't expect one to produce 18hp & the other 100hp. :tiphat:

In the end I'm guessing go with the one that gives you the best deal.

Stillen requires cutting/drilling, while the Takeda system does not.

If you guys need price-match or price quote, shoot me a PM.

gains? dyno sheets?

+1..... :iagree: That is the key.

RUFFSTUFF 05-30-2012 06:22 AM

You can search for that info. I for one, have no interest in running on a dyno for an intake, but I'm sure someone else has.

*sigh* EVERYBODY loves a good dyno sheet. for me to poop on.

guys, seriously...the design is not that different from the stillens, i expected...and received, probably...similar performance.

here, from my thread about the intakes...no i didn't do the dyno myself.

and for fun, Stillen.

this is the official / advertised numbers for both takeda and stillen. take it for what you will.

 ordering these soon...wish I could make it to the meet this weekend to see yours (just assuming you're going) but out of town :(

iceman21_23 05-31-2012 11:30 AM

as far as the dyno graphs go they were done on a mustang (takeda) and a dynojet (stillen) it looks at least to me the way the stillens are is that you actually dont gain much torque until after 7250 rpm around +4-7 tq entire powerband then at 7250 it jumps to+13 where as the takeda shows a gain of about +12-15 across the entire band. the same thing goes for hp... so idk if its just the dyno difference doing that or what

MacLean 05-31-2012 01:01 PM

I the Takeda is FTW IMHO. The price is right & there really isn't a huge difference b/w the Takeda & Stillen except that you do not have to cut any. This might kind of be a stupid question here & if so I am sorry. This is my first time to actually thinking about pulling the trigger on a CAI. How often do you have to clean the filter, or even replace the filter? I'm guessing clean the CAI filter at every oil change (or every other oil change) & replace the CAI at 20-30k miles.

Usually it's anywhere from 15K-20K miles - but it really depends on the conditions of the filters.

Takeda is definitely FTW in my books too :icon17:

Responded to some of the PMs that were shot my way. If you are looking for the best deals on Takeda systems, shoot me a PM. We are an authorized direct dealer and stocking distributor.

RUFFSTUFF 05-31-2012 06:45 PM

You don't replace the filter in the Takeda. It's an aFe Pro Dry S filter, so you clean it with water, let it dry and reinstall.

again, YMMV. Even if they were the same dyno, any little change in weather, setting, etc. could result in a different result. To me, it's all basically within the noise. You will get similar performance with both. In my opinion, you get an easier installation and maintenance product with the Takeda.

So you get a little more noise with the Takeda (in a good way)?

phelan 06-01-2012 09:45 AM

no, when i say noise, i mean it in a data analysis way. there is instrumentation error in the dyno graphs that may account for the different numbers.

iceman21_23 06-06-2012 05:09 PM

installed mine today, not to bad just a pia to have to take off the front bumper haha.

To equate more precisely across dynamometers, go by % change from baseline. That will be more telling than specific change in units. It's really the only way you can somewhat meaningfully compare one type of dyno to another.

RUFFSTUFF 06-06-2012 05:56 PM

Honestly,it's almost futile to compare the results of 2 dynos of the same model, let alone different ones... But it's fun to try...

Ni55anPat 06-13-2012 09:57 AM

WHAT discount codes do i put in now to get the price reduced?
