Prelude

I sold my Prelude recently to make space for my Z. You can still see the auction here, which includes a set of pictures of my Prelude. I have a homepage about my Lude, too, where I kept track of all modifications I made. I have done everything myself, whether ECU hacking, Cam Piston or conrod installations, even bumper paintjob. It was my true DIY project for almost 9 years, starting from bone stock. When I auctioned the Lude I was spotted by the Lude Generation Forum and invited to give a few write-ups, which you may find in this thread. That's it. I hadn't been active on any Prelude forum ever. |
V1H, those are rubber dampers to alleviate vibration and "hiss" from the OEM exhaust. (The pic you posted asking)

Maybe it acts a kind of counterweight and somehow is engineered to vibrated in sync with the pipe but with a phase delay of Pi, thus cancelling vibration.. a bit like noise cancelling "anti-sound" The wire-through-hole must be limiting the deflection/amplitude of the counterweight vibration, perhaps it makes it more broad-band (less sharp a resonance curve) or keeps the phase delay at Pi Just speculating here  http://www.prelude.myzen.co.uk/370Z/Temp/damper.jpg |
Anyone by chance have this exhaust with a BP Turbo?
motordyne or FI? waaaaaaaa
Motordyne Shockwave...
Can you get this without the burnt tips??
Yes, check my first post. I have pics of both the stainless tips and burnt titanium

Alternative Exhaust Tips
Hi all,
I am going to replace my Shockwave))) Exhaust tips (4.5" blue rolled Ti) with some alternative ones that I found here: www.42draftdesigns.com/Clamp-On-Tips_c_168.html The above selection fits our 3" tail pipes. I chose the 4" OD brushed S/S double wall clamp-on style. But they got single-wall and/or weld-on versions, too. The highly polished or matte black versions are beautiful, as well  The double wall design looks very professional and reminds me a bit of BMW M3 style... just bigger. http://www.42draftdesigns.com/assets...-62CBR_002.jpg Best wishes |
Great Review Boost - called Motordyne just now to order, I want to get an exhaust before the summer is over lol. But unfortunately the latest batch has weld issues around the muffler - and they need to be rechecked or even rewelded and won't be shipping for 2 - 4 weeks... ugggg.
 |
hi all, looking to get this exhaust from a vendor on here. Can anyone state what's a good shipped price? I've been looking and the lowest I got was around $1700. I swear I saw it for 100 less elsewhere.
^^ Motordyne prices went up. I think $1600-1700 is the best you're going to get. I think Nugen gave me the best price out of the vendors.
Thanks! Strange that prices when up when people had issues with the latest batch...
^^ what issues were these?
I called several vendors and they said the exhaust is on backorder since there may have been welding issues. happy that they'd do that to ensure quality parts
Is it still back ordered? any idea?

Page not found gasm.

Apparently Motordyne raised their prices, i'm done with this exhaust. Fast Intentions it is!

I agree man, the price is just getting out of hand for a catback. I mean we are not GTR owners, and we only get slight bump in HP/TRQ.
$1800 now?
Looks like it man. So sad
I paid $1400 or so for fast intentions exhaust. There are other options but they don't sound like the motordyne. The quality looks good on the motordyne plus they have the drone eliminator dongs.
It's worth it if you don't want to deal with drone. I'm really considering selling the fast intentions for motordyne exhaust. |
Does anyone have a clip of the E370 with LTHs?
On my replacement Z (totaled the last one) I went with Motordyne to try something new since I was starting with a clean slate. I had the FI on the last one but I am glad I saved up and went with motordyne. The sound is better (personal opinion) and no drone. I had the 12" resonators on the FI and there was still noticeable drone on the highway. While both are great systems, I prefer the motordyne after owning both. This thread is what pushed me to try it.
Here's a vid of the e370 with ART pipes and gen3's. I also had the FI system with resonated test pipes, and 12" resonators on my G. Great system all around great quality, throaty, proven gains, just some drone on the highway, and a little deceleration hiss. The Motordyne is a different beast however just sounds angry, growls all the way up the rpm band, screams on downshifts, louder than my FI system without the drone on the highway though. Vids you see online do not do it justice, when I heard it in person I was sold. It is a loud system with test pipes though, just a heads up.

Sounds good! Wow. Nice.

Looking to switch over and maybe keep the Fast Intentions test pipes. |

I'd like to get the e370 and then a little bit later down the road a TT. Is it going to be a difficulty fitting in a turbo back into the e370 system? What will it entail in terms of removing pieces, etc? Or do you recommend a different exhaust system if I'm going to be going with a TT later?
I'm undecided on whether to get motordyne or tomei :\
You shouldn't be.
Motordyne make an exhaust that was developed for and on the Nissan, most exhaust manufacturers just make a current model/tech fit the car. |

Ahh, yeah i can see that being a major factor. All i will say is that if you can justify the extra expense, it will be worth it.
I should be posting a vid of FI LTH and E370 around April or May on the dyno just in case someone wants to hear that combo. There's one with PPE but whatever.
Late thanks for the review, you just made me spend $1700
Let the wait begin! |
How is this E370 compared to the ARK grip exhaust in terms of loudness and drone? I want the least drone but I don't mind loud. I right now have AAM resonated short tails with ART pipes and it drones 3200-4000.
The Motordyne doesn't drone.
