As for the difference in cost.

1) Its made in the Los Angeles, USA.
2) Its taken to a much higher level of polishing. Its not just quickly buffed. They go through 4 stages of finishing to achieve a deep polish.
3) Its taken to a much higher level of TIG welding.
4) It uses triple layered flex lines for flexibility without turbulence or whistling.
5) It uses V-band flanges and clamps.
6) It uses predominantly dual 3" Stainless Steel 304 tubing (for greater power capacity in the 8-15 PSI boost applications).
7) It is modular so it can have additional resonators or HFC's built into the mid pipes.
8) It can easily be converted to a full dual 3" exhaust for very high HP capacity.
9) It comes with 2 different pairs of adjustable/removable titanium and Stainless tips for different looks.

No other 370Z exhaust can do all this.

The above are real cost drivers for features not seen in any other exhaust.

The Shockwave))) E370 is the best exhaust available to the 370Z.

.

MaDMaXX 04-12-2012 10:20 PM

My order going in soon.

Also, the gains on this exhaust are about the same as other open exhausts, once it's straight through, like this is, there will be little in it, it's all down to quality/design/sound at that point.
I've never seen anyone with the Shockwave V2 have any drone/hiss/rasp/boom. Perfect, it let's me cruise to work and have fun at the weekends :D

The lost you mentioned, edub, was not a comparative dyno, it can't be compared that way.

I installed the Shockwave exhaust with the ART pipes and the M370 plenum. Tuned it with UpRev Osiris on a dynopack, i ended up at 359hp/298 trq. I also have Stillen headers and Stillen Gen3 CAI

I'm not running this exhaust. I'm currently down on hp with the MD intake manifold, but my dyno tests need rerun with the same fuel. Just wanted to prevent any confusion. The only MD exhaust piece I'm running is their XYZ Y pipe with a cat and it's working great.

reyoasian 08-20-2013 09:24 PM

how many tip options are there?

my buddy has the 4.5" rolled burn tips on his white g35

I'm considering this car in either blue or grey and wonder what tips would look good (most likely rolled, polished, 4.5"??)
Not really digging the huge 5" tips, and burn tips on blue looks weird to me

MaDMaXX 08-20-2013 11:13 PM

I have the 4.5 rolled and 5 inch burnt, which actually ended up looking very good.

I've had mine for a year now and still have a shitty grin driving around. It sounds awesome!

reyoasian 08-22-2013 10:09 AM

Sounds awesome

Only heard the G35 version in person but should be very similar

I want to get the car JUST so I can slap this baby on

montez255 09-23-2013 07:28 PM

mr.boost, where did you get the exhaust installed at? i live in san antonio and i would like the job done right.

Boost_lee 09-24-2013 12:06 AM

At the time I had access to a lift and did it with a friend. As for a shop, your easiest bet is JMS. Tell Jorge/Joaquin that B with the blue Z sent you.

boomboom 10-04-2013 04:21 AM

Any fitment issues with the art pipes with the shockwave?

MaDMaXX 10-04-2013 08:33 PM

Not as they're designed to be a whole system by the same company.

synolimit 10-04-2013 10:22 PM

Just made and installed Helmholtz resonators off my x pipe because my new LTH were insanely raspy. I can't believe how much they quieted down the sound and deleted the rasp. I think I'm going to remove the muffler, straight pipe it, and add 2 more Helmholtz's like this CBE. Cool idea and interesting how it can add more power over just a straight pipe!

Just ordered my E370 about a few hours ago and already received a Tracking number! Pleasure doing business with the folks at Motordyne. Can't wait to have that beautiful sound coming from my car! :ughdance:

CarbonFZ 12-12-2013 05:18 PM

officially hate you for convincing me to buy a motordyne exhaust just placed my order today haha

MarlinZ 12-20-2013 09:19 AM

I had the stillen CBE and when I put on my ppe Lth it ended up sounding like a raspy Honda civic!! So I searched and searched finally found the E370 and it has been absolutely amazing!! No more rasp or any of those annoying sounds. Just beautiful music to my ears. I've gotten nothing but compliments and interest from anybody that's heard her growl. As for Tony at motordyne, he's an amazing guy, always willing to help with anything he can. I highly recommend this system to anybody. It is absolutely beautiful whether it be looks or sound the E370 is the way to go!!!

pbhakta 01-10-2014 09:12 AM

Awesome Review, it helped me pull the trigger on this exhaust and now i have it on my car and sounds freaking amazing. Thanks for taking the time to do an extensive review, it def helped alot!

I would love to hear what it sounds like!

mwhit02 01-27-2014 09:41 PM

any issues with running this on a Nismo?

preR35 03-16-2014 05:05 PM

For the OP and anyone else who has installed the Shockwave/ART combo: Am I going to wake up my neighbors upon start-up late at night? :icon17:

I'm so close to ordering, but the cold-start volume has me concerned since I usually let my cars sit for a minute before driving off. Otherwise, I love everything I've read and heard about this exhaust once it's warmed up :yum:

(For reference I currently have a Stillen cbe which I assume is pretty mild by comparison, and I owned a WRX with a 3-inch cat back that was pretty loud but definitely livable)

MaDMaXX 03-16-2014 05:47 PM

Can't comment on it that well, but i have a friend with a similar WRX, his is louder than my 350 on cold start.

I'd say you'll be fine, i leave around 6am and no one has complained...

Boost_lee 03-16-2014 06:34 PM

Cold start can be a bit loud in a garage setting with the E370/ART combo - I haven't had complaints yet, but sometimes feel a little guilty if its real early

Can't believe its been 2 years since this review! I'm glad that users have found it useful and used it to purchase/not purchase the E370.

preR35 03-16-2014 07:14 PM

Thanks for your input, guys ^

V1H 05-29-2014 06:55 AM

@Boost_lee I love your write up :tiphat: Rep'd

And, Tony @Motordyne.. OMG what a marvel of an exhaust and sound
With a GTM TT in the pipeline I've been looking at F.I. 2.5" CBE or AAM 3" dual CBE, but now I'm all over this 2.5"/3" hybrid Shockwave))) E370Z. It'd suit my as-yet stock motor while being future proof for forced induction.

So Tony, where do I have to sign to call one mine ;)
And I need a shipping quote to U.K., please.

Btw, a curious question. What if the resonators at the tailpipes were removed, or opened/closed with an exhaust valve. How would the sound change? I'm a fan of muffler delete (e.g. AAM shorties) and wonder it I could win some extra rasp (I love the occasional uncivilized evil spitting exhaust :p)

Cheers

MaDMaXX 05-29-2014 07:20 PM

Don't worry, this thing will spit when you drive it hard ;)

Try Abbey Motorsports for a UK supplier if you want that option.

I just bought my motordyne shockwave in the uk using Tarmac Sportz awesome service and it was at my front door in two and a half weeks!!!

With regards to uncivilized evil spitting exhaust, the only way to describe it is a monster. When you give it the beans the sound is absolutely insane, my mate thought id just bought the love child of a 458 Italia and a superbike when i was heading down the road!

peleincubus 06-18-2014 11:22 AM

I'm confused on why this exhaust isn't more popular. In this thread people say that the FI exhaust has drone and hiss and this one doesn't then why does it seem that the FI exhaust seems to be more popular then all the other exhaust systems combined??

As far as what I'm looking for I want a deeper and not too loud but noticeable at idle sound (I guess a v8)

I've read so much on here I guess I just need to hear a few in person.

MaDMaXX 06-19-2014 07:44 PM

Mostly because it's expensive, it's a lot to invest in 'just' an exhaust.

If you get something that's louder at idle, it will be even louder elsewhere, you won't get a V8 type noise either, their noise is based upon rough running, the V6 is a smooth motor.

However, as civilized as the Motordyne is, the idle noise is 'different' and pleasant.

peleincubus 06-20-2014 03:26 AM

Thanks for the reply. And it sounds so obvious when you say it. But if it is louder at idle then it would be louder throughout the rest of the rpm range.

I know jack about cars but I'm learning I suppose.

MaDMaXX 06-20-2014 07:09 PM

Whilst true, more specifically i was referring to the ability for it to be a nice cruiser, not to be making noise just driving down the road at a set speed, like a certain other popular Jap car manufacturer which is popular with young drivers.

V1H 07-03-2014 08:51 AM

exhaust arrived

Woohoo! Got my Motordyne Shockwave))) E370Z delivered now :happydance:
I ordered it through Mark @ Abbeymotorsports here in the U.K.
£1879.50, incl. shipment.
Excellent service. Very very pleased, Mark :tiphat:

Below are some photos of the exhaust. I took the time to measure all dimensions and weigh it accurately: 26.36 kg in total.
I'm waiting for a pair of car ramps to arrive, then I'll install the exhaust at home. Can't wait :excited:

Nice V1H - now you gotta tell me what Prelude you had and on what boards?

Here's mine before i left the UK.

V1H 07-04-2014 01:27 PM

Car ramps arrived this morning.
And I just finished installing my Motodyne Shockwave)))

Holy m*****f****** ****! The sound is simply otherworldly
My Z now sounds like it's on steroids. I expected a lot but this exhaust sound just blows my socks

The install was a breeze on the ramps. Though, working towards the cats I had to jack the car slightly on either front. The exhaust piping lines up perfectly. Only thing, you gotta figure out which way round the Y-pipe goes, coz it got a slight kink at its collector flange and it wouldn't say what's "up" or "down". As for the muffler, I simply assumed the Motordyne Logo is "down", which fortunately turned out to be right. The install leaflet should have mentioned these.
Got a bit wet towards the end of the install. See below phots.

Car ramps.. ready to get going

OEM exhaust off. Looks like cheap garbage and is only 1yr old :shakes head:

The Ti tips I'll install tomorrow ;)
