I think that combined with the smooth, individual runners will net some serious gains, especially on a tuned, boosted 370z. I forsee it as a higher displacement version of the VG motor, in a sense.

The two banks are already connected inside the stock manifold, so there is no need for a balance tube.

alright so whats this kit gonna run us?

best I can do is 5.00 and a date (you pay for the food, but you get to enjoy my company. Only stipulation is no sex... unless you throw in a FI TT kit)

:wtf2:

MyKindaGuise 05-13-2013 10:54 PM

In for price. I don't need no stinking dynos.

Gaston370Z 05-13-2013 11:58 PM

My guess is its no different than the Knetics manifold.... Just looks cool and thats it

G37sHKS 05-14-2013 02:47 AM

Ill buy if there was no lose in HP at any RPM. i dont really care about the gains.

did you guys bought your body kit and stickers for HP or looks? consider this mod are a bling mod if no losses or gains.

SgtGoldy 05-14-2013 03:04 AM

I have a terrible feeling its going to be an extremely expensive "bling" mod

chrischhorn 05-14-2013 03:08 AM

If this plate is available for under $200, you buy the GTR intake manifold for $600ish at the dealer....$800 for bling. People pay more for the Top Secret parts. Will be worth it for me depending on how much I can get it for at cost to the dealer. I can get all Nissan parts at dealer price ;)

AlexRaymond19 05-14-2013 05:24 AM

Can't wait for results today!

Well, losses would be bad :ugh2:

Same here. I guess the real question is can this be duplicated reliably? If so, I am in for a price as well.

From the sounds of it and having followed this thread from the start, reliable replication seems to be one of his main goals. :excited:

In for results

chii370 05-14-2013 12:22 PM

damnit, started reading this thread this morning, got SUPER EXCITED. and was expecting that it was already to the "results" a few days ago... and i come to find the results are TODAY lol. now i have to wait biting my nails for it!!!! omg, even if nothings gained i would buy that in a second, it looks absolutely FANTASTIC. hopefully it doesnt interfere with my future fast intentions TT. also, i have the nismo oil cap type TWO, the ratchet style, is it any bigger dimensionally ? i didnt like the shiny chrome look of the type one, threw off the balance of the engine bay symmetrical oem look. everythings matte, having a shiny thing on only one side looks weird.

chknhawk 05-14-2013 01:04 PM

Well it is season finally week. So you will have to wait to see what this thing does and wait to see what Sheldon and the crew have in store on Thurday on BBT> :ugh2:

My guess is you would only need to tweek some of the intake piping of the FI TT setup.

ChrisUR 05-14-2013 05:54 PM

well, it was promised so here you go :-)

http://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.ne...44453553_n.jpg

what you see in this picture:
the dark red line shows torque with the stock Z34 manifold setup
the blue line shows torque with the GTR manifold setup

first thing you notice is that the torque starts higher right from the beginning, in fact it is at about 320NM (236ft.lb) vs. 250NM (184ft.lb) at 2200RPM.

Until 4200RPM it stays about the same with both setups but then you see an increase up to 20NM (15ft.lb) until 5200RPM and an even more noticable increase of nearly 40NM (29ft.lb) from 5500RPM till 6500RPM.

My first guess is that the dent around 5300RPM comes from the ECU (which has no tuning currently). It might be that there is some sort of torque goal /limit and the ECU notices that torque exceeds this maximum allowed value so it is reduced, then goes up again, and is reduced again.

Maybe someone here who has more experience with how the ECU works can shed some light in this issue - does it make any sense ?

As power is calculcated in relation to torque you of course see the same increase and "issue" with the light red vs. the red line for HP.

Overall I'm currently very satisfied with the results. My street driving experience and feel obviously were not too wrong, the car really has more torque in certain areas and is at least not any slower or weaker than with the stock setup.

Next step is tuning the ECU for the new setup - I'm very positive we can eliminate the dent at 5500RPM and maintain a higher torque and HP across the whole RPM band.

Stay tuned for more results soon - for today I'm very happy and thank you again for all your support and positive feedback !

Chris

Chris

So youre saying the butt dyno feels better? The torque increase down low is very respectable. Its sounds about right it didnt start to make more power until higher up when the stock becomes more restrictive. Good results I cant wait to see how it does tuned. Thats where it really matters anyway.

SS_Firehawk 05-14-2013 06:16 PM

I wanna hear what this sounds like with this new manifold. Results so far are at least promising.

wstar 05-14-2013 06:34 PM

Nice dyno results :)

I think it will be very interesting indeed to see tuning on the thing. Was the existing tune bone-stock, or was it already dyno-tuned for the stock manifold + existing mods?

How are things looking on the strut bar / hood fitment?

Kingbaby 05-14-2013 08:00 PM

man oh man...this is exciting...

in for dyno results after a tune!

pricing as well

AlexRaymond19 05-14-2013 08:44 PM

Hot damn! Any way you can do a tuning and dyno session with stock manifold vs GTR manifold? I'm not hating at all, but it would seem like it is possible even if the gtr numbers are higher with no tune, for the stock manifold to make higher numbers with tune than the gtr with tune. Just thinking of all possibilities.

Reaper42 05-14-2013 08:46 PM

very interested. I'll be the first!

AlexRaymond19 05-14-2013 08:46 PM

Oh yeah, and sign me up for group buy/pre-sale!

AlexRaymond19 05-14-2013 08:49 PM

****, if you lend me one, or give me a good discount I have the M370 and the stock manifold. Could do a three way tune and comparison for you. Totally unbiased, and I have really some of the best power making support mods for a NA 370.

Reaper42 05-14-2013 08:51 PM

I'm wondering tho, the big custom piece here is the adaptor plate in order to fit the stock gtr plenum. My question is, if I were to just buy the adaptor plate, would I be able to a fix and aftermarket GTR plenum such as Greddy's unit??

AlexRaymond19 05-14-2013 08:55 PM

I'd assume so. If the greddy fits bone stock. But i know nothing. Does the greddy make more power? If so, that doesn't mean it will on the 370 for sure. But most likely

Especially FI and a lottt of boost. Next best thing to a custom sheet metal

critical 05-14-2013 10:20 PM

He's stated previously that he does not have a tune and just lets the ECU learn the mods.

7419sundat 05-14-2013 11:04 PM

I cant read that graph at all! I thought hp and torque cross at 5252. Shouldnt the lines cross somewhere even with different units?

It's in PS and NM, you need to convert it to hp and tq

SgtGoldy 05-14-2013 11:41 PM

Im excited/nervous for this price point. Can't wait for an update

Kingbaby 05-15-2013 12:29 AM

OEM Z34/Z33 intake manifold runner is $288

GT-R intake manifold is $650

ChrisUR's adapter runner : $380-$450 range ?

I have no idea how much labor/design/cost was to make this....would be cool if it's under $1000 to upgrade

Quiet Rod! It needs to be cheaper!!!! $200 for adapter and I'm sold! Ill send payment now lol.

Nice! When will you be tuning?

roplusbee 05-15-2013 07:25 AM

Put me on the list for the adapter please. Now I just need to source a GT-R plenum.
