Yeah, They tune your NOS timer so you'll run 9's.

Otherwise you'll be unloading in third.

Sorry to change the subject but I am really new at this...
but what is tuning?
Is it like adjusting the settings or something?
lol... thanks for helping out guys =)

Generally its means repgrogramming(flashing) the factory ECU to change alter the stock settings related to Air/Fuel Ratio, Ignition Timing, electronic throttle control, speed and rev limiters, etc. UpRev is probably the most popular option for the 370z. You could also tune by replacing the factory ECU with a aftermarket standalone engine management and tuning that, but that is typically more money and hassle than it's worth.

Please explain how N/A mods is detrimental to the car without a tune. Bolts-ons on the car won't mess with the car so much where your so lean that its dangerous.

Obviously the car will run better with tune and gain power but your talking about $600 dollars a tune for just N/A mods. If you were F/I, you have to have a tune to run the car.

Most people do not go with the headers as most already know that they don't do much. Only proven header is the FI LTH. Other than that most have ran the car with I/HFC or TP/ CBE without issues.

But would you pay $600 every time you added a bolt on? All I suggested is that he get all that then tune. Not everyone has $$$$ disposable to shell out for a tune after a $300-500 mod was added.

if your shop tells you its 600$ everytime you tune they are ripping you off.

you pay a good amount the first time because you pay for the license for the tune and then they have to start from scratch to dyno tune your car

after that, if you ever retune, it shouldnt take them that long as they need to tweak the tune vs start from scratch. Now that is unless you go from an NA build to an FI build, then tuning might take longer but still shouldnt be 600-700$ cus you already purchased the license the first time. unless you had a complete overhaul of the engine

without a tune.... you'll be granny shifting; not double clutching like you should..

So just to recap. With FI Exhaust, FI HFC, and Stillen Gen 3 intakes I will be good until I get a tune?

daisuke149 08-25-2011 03:21 PM

I would get the tune. like i said, it makes a big diff in how the car drives even if you dont have a ton of mods.

^^+1

I got tuned last weekend and it made a good difference. Definitely worth the money.

I have the Fast Intentions exhaust and just ordered the Stillen Gen 3 intakes. When I put the intakes on, will it be absolutely necessary to get a tune or do you think it will be fine. I will be getting a tune in the future, but just don't have the means to right now and don't want to be too leaned out.

Have a look at my experience: http://www.the370z.com/canada/40765-...dyno-tune.html

I would recommend one. My car is a completely different beast.

Exactly.. of course it's recommended.. but sometimes getting the $$ freed up to do everything you want takes time, and as everyone has said, you should wait for tuning until you've completed at least phases of bolt-ons, so you're not spending extra to re-tune at every step..
