Discussion: Ebay Y-Pipe, Mid Resonator-Delete, Stock Muffler

I'm on a very limited budget. I have already ordered the E-bay Y-pipe for $120 shipped (new), and I am going to have it installed at the local muffler shop.

Default Discussion: Ebay Y-Pipe, Mid Resonator-Delete, Stock Muffler

I'm on a very limited budget. I have already ordered the E-bay Y-pipe for $120 shipped (new), and I am going to have it installed at the local muffler shop. I'm considering asking the mechanic to saw off the resonators on the midpipe and welding straight pipes on. I have never done any modifications to a car before, so some expert or experienced advice is more than welcome. Would I see any gains/sound improvement/mpg improvement over the Y-pipe alone?

I am not an expert... but when it comes to exhaust i've always understood that the more straight path is the best for power... hence the reason you will see fewer and or more smooth bends over the stock exhaust. Now is cutting your pipes and such the best idea? I don't know about that. I wouldn't cut my stock exhaust personally.

I will add that it's best to just save your money until you can get what you want and produces proven gains.
