Default Recommendations for cat-back install....

I tried searching on this forum but didn't get the results I was looking for.

I will be receiving my FI cat-back system later this week and wanted to get some recommendations on shops to get it installed. I've heard some things about Ripley's Muffler (nothing bad) but I wasn't sure if anyone has some other places they would recommend.

I'm located in the Galleria area but the exhaust is being shipped to the 290/1960 area.

Thanks in advance!

Ever think of doing it yourself? Its really easy, and there is a good feeling of self satisfaction knowing you did it yourself. Just wondering.

Yes, but I don't have the jacks/lift to do it. If there's anyone who might offer to help (I will pay!) that would be good too.

Good time to pick some up. Then you can also do your own oil changes also.

Does the FI exhaust require relocating the EVAP?

I'm gonna keep bothering you LOL. You can go and get those like $20 black plastic ramps and pull the rear up onto those. The install can be done with just her butt in the air. Or you can pay for my air fare, hotel, rental car and food and I'll do it for ya LOL.

No Evap relocation, but you do have to remove the cover and put supplied heat wrap around one of the fuel lines.

Sure; I'll pay for airfare, etc!!! Just kidding; I live in an apartment for now and really don't have room to do it so I'll pay for the convenience of having someone else do it.

My muffler shop charges $40 if the exhaust is designed for the car. I go to a family owned local place, so just posted to give you one cost figure.

Have you asked Tony? I got a shop recommendation from him.

FI's catback is really easy to install, any decent local muffler shop should be able to do it quickly and correctly. It's a simple bolt-on job, there's no tricky adjustments or anything. Just observe normal best practices (anti-seize on the bolts, final torque everything after it's all installed and bolted up loosely, etc). Just don't go to the crappy chain places like Midas, they can screw up anything.

I have been backing RWD cars onto ramps since before I had a license. I could not get the Z onto ramps...kept pushing them backwards. So I jacked up the rear from the pumpkin with a floor jack, then slid the ramps under.

Helps to have the front wheels up a bit, too (I used sandwiched 2X8's).

I agree with the suggestions that you do it yourself, or with the help of a fellow enthusiast. Tony makes such a quality system, it bolts on very easily.

At least watch the installer if you take it to a shop. Good to know your Z top to bottom!

Anyone in Houston want some $ to help install the exhaust?! I'll pay some cash plus beer/food!
