Default k&n typhoon installed. has anyone ever...

Man just installed the k&n typhoon sounds great feels slightly more peppy but above 4k sounds really good very agressive. (still not as throaty as my svt contour intake but sounds excellant). Install was very straight forward and easy. fit great no issues at all cut the two rubber hoses a little for a perfect fit. MY question is has anyone taken out the stock snorkles that feed into the stock air box. I would imagine a lil more air would get through there if those were out. I ripped that out on my svt and it really made a big dirrerence especially with the sound. My guess is beacuse more air is flying through. If so how did u get them out seems like iots screwed in from the bottom but i could not get my hand in there.??

Sure I can get one tomorrow. Its the snorkle part that goes into the stock air box and the other end goes into the front fender to channel air into the air box. Its about a 2.5 inch hole to channel the air in. seems with those out more air would be able to get in.

well i did not dyno it of course but to me its well worth it. I think many have dynoed it at about 6 at the wheels. the sound is phenominal and it does feel more powerful. i have noticed absolutley no heat soak over the stock set up. My buddy drove it before and after he also thought it was a lil more peppy! i'll get some pics today of what I am talking about with those air snorkels.

here is the intake installed. I seem to notice a a slight loss of torque under 3k but increased pull over 4k. Would this be because of heat soak? Sound is geat thought. Sorry for the delay just figured out how to post pics

I have the same exhaust on mine, do you mean the air sensors that came off of the stock air box? If so I just used them with the new setup.

Just put mine on last week and I'm not sure if I like it better or not. Seems sluggish at times and hesitant I may be going back to the stock boxes with my K&N drop ins!! Did the batt disconnect, so ECU should have learned by now. Is there any special way to drive the car during the re-learn??

That looks totally different than the k&n typhoon kit I have. MAF tubes look different.

Looks just like mine. I'm going to go ahead and assume that he's talking about the air ducts that's around the radiator. If you take a look at how to install the Stillen Gen 3 intakes, you can use a dremel to increase the size of the inlet. You'd have to take off your bumper to get easy access to it. But I think you can remove the rubber lining as well instead of having to dremel. I'm not sure if it'll even have substantial increase in airflow.

Your left intake looks like it needs to get adjusted.

ya it does sit a lil higher than the right one. but i can;t get it any lower its pushed down as much as it can go beacuse of the heat shield below it. Yes I know what ya mean about the sluggish part kinda frustrating for 300 bucks eh. i wonder why that is.

I did the reset by batt disconnect, not the way with the gas pedal and ign on. I really feel that there is alot of heat soak, I feel it when taking off from a light and the bay is good and hot. REALLY feeling it here in Vegas with 111 temps last few days too add to it. I need all the cool air I can get! There are the shields, but you can see there is many areas where the engine bay heat can get by rather easily. At least the factory air boxes are sealed and basically engine bay heat proof. I realize that the best way to go is the long tube type, which Im not gonna do. So it will be back to stock for me. Anyone want my Typhoon setup, PM me. Gonna let it go for $250, been on a week or so.
