But still the ARK Grip 2 would be a better option than the stillen IMO. |

How does the Shockwave E370 compare sound wise? More on the quiet side until pushed?

while cruising its almost un noticable but stamp on it and its pretty loud!!! Somewhere between the FI non resinated system and the 12inch resinated system. It sounds awesome!!! |
Alright so I currently have G3 intakes and Invidia test pipes and I think my Z sounds pretty much perfect. Love the rasp between 2500 and 3000rpm. I put a full Borla on my old car (Tiburon GT) and it really didn't increase the sound much at all besides the annoying drone at low rpms. Also I just a had a buddy of mine put a full Invidia exhaust on his 2012 STi last week and again..almost no increase in sound at all. My car is still much much louder than his and I'm using my stock exhaust.
Most aftermarket exhaust systems I've seen for the Z are either one of two designs. They have what I like to call the "straight through" design where the two pipes don't intersect at all and the mufflers almost hang to the ground (which I personally hate looks-wise) i.e: GReddy Turbo TI-C, Fast Intentions TDX, HKS Hi Power, or they have the "sinlge/stacked muffler" design where the system pretty much replicates the design of the stock system except for maybe slightly larger piping and the 304 SS construction i.e: Stillen, Nismo, Borla, Invidia Gemini ect. If I had to guess I'd say that the "straight through" systems are louder and add more power being that they have smaller mufflers and have a more true dual design without all those bends in the pipes down by the muffler..but I would never want my mufflers to hang that low. And after watching and re-watching that Stillen video of the stock vs. Stillen..for no more difference in the sound I'd just as soon leave on my stock exhaust and forget about any aftermarket system altogether. My question is: does anyone know if there is any exhaust out there that actually increases sound by a lot that doesn't have its mufflers hanging to the ground and still has a decent hp increase? |
Anyone with opinions regarding MXP duals?

This is my first post so sorry if I did something wrong or if its in the wrong section. Im looking for a mellow exhaust that cost under 1k, I already have berk hfc installed, was leaning towards cnt's catback system but youtube is hard to judge.
Thanks! |

Any scraping issues with the fast intentions since it does sit a little lower, im at stock ride height, ive alse heard good reviews on the cnt system but would like to hear it in person. Cnt is also cheaper which is nice but id pay the extra if its worth the sound and gains.
Tanabe exhaust @ revworks runs $750 for the mid pipe back. Then you can get a Motordyne Y pipe ($350-$550) (HFC / TP / Res), ebay pipe ($100), AAM Y pipe ($340), Tanabe Y pipe ($500) or Litespeed Y pipe that comes with a resonator ($200). Invidia is quiet as well. Top Speed generally gets mixed reviews. Don't know much about CNT
Mine is loud from the headers, the exhaust tames it a lot. I use the Tanabe Y pipe and HFC. Clink the link on my sig for videos. There is rasp in some videos, but it reduced dramatically after break in. |
Ok thanks. How is the fitment on the invidia gemini since the tips are not adjustable i hate the look of the tips when they stick out a lot further then stock tips
I believe every invidia exhaust I've seen installed have the tips sticking out.
Also Fast Intentions exhaust doesn't sit lower, but it's lowest point is after the rear axles/ So if you haul as$ over a speed bump and don't let the suspension decompress before driving off again, you could scratch the cans. That generally goes for most exhausts of that design.
Ohh alright, i like the sound of the fast intentions im just worried itll be too loud, the z is my daily driver so i dnt want to come home late at nite and wake the neighborhood up lol.
Get the 18" resonators if you're worried about volume.
And tbh, your biggest concern should be waking up others in your house, since they'll hear it much louder than neighbors will. You'd be fine as long as you dont go heavy on the pedal and keep it at low rpms. |
True, and worst case if it is too loud i can take the hfc's off, does the deep sound carry even at low rpm?
Hows the fitment for the fast intentions, are the pipes in the back at a different height, kinda like the ark exhaust? Its hard to tell from pics but it looks about the same height. Would i have any drone with the berk high flow cats pair with the fast intentions 18" resonators?
hks by far rocks the one and only, great fit, great sound no other exhaust sounds like it you will love it
I have Berk HFC and CBE. looks good sounds good fits good. Bauble hangs down at the flange just a hair lower than stock.
Fun choices!!! |
I love the raw sound of the hks but im trying to stay around a grand and trying to stay quietishh, how loud is the berk set up on a scale of 1-10 or compared to the 18" resonated fast intentions?
Berks are quiet, maybe 93-95db. They sound good when paired with their HFC's. You can find 18" FI exhaust on the forums for about $1100, I would choose that over the Berks. Hard to go wrong with our exhaust options. It's surprising how different the car can sound.

fast intentions non res, with berg or fi hfc?

i got the same non res so no rasp with res hfc? is it louder
any vids you guys posted?
Its very hard to tell from a video man, just go ahead and get the setup you want, and if it doesn't work out than change it up. Worst case you could always add a resonator to the exhaust
Ok thanks for the advice, why would you choose FI over Berk?
Build quality, sound, options, and service. Tony is active here and easy to reach. If money is tighter than you expect and still want a quality new system, Garage Line Gar makes a decent looking exhaust for $700.
Fixed: Garage Line is manufacturer. |
Is source a company or an independent shop? Sorry im not familar with them and cant find anything researching... any links?
independent company and they sell a handful of Z parts as well. I'm thinking about picking up their spacers later on.
Correction, Garage Line is the company, idk what I was smoking. Just wanted to clarify.
Ohh ok thanks, it sounds pretty good in the video but whats the rattle when let off the gas? It sounds like metal hitting metal, and any idea how loud it is compared to berks or fast intentions?
Probably quieter than F.I. and about the same as Berk. That's just a guess from the video. It sounds raspy and like the pipe might be vibrating off something which is usually an easy fix. The rasp, I would recommend adding resonated test pipes, ART pipes, or resonated HFC's with that system.
Edit: Yeah, they were using test pipes with it. They will make damn near any exhaust raspy. |
