Only one is Exoticspeed. :)- Sound is AMAZING. + Less $$ than the rest.

daisuke149 08-07-2011 04:19 PM

ill throw my 2 cents in. ARK exhaust. its not loud, has an awesome tone to it vs just making noise. Has no drone at all. And if you get on it you can def hear it. But for daily cruising its just a nice deep tone you hear.

Looks amazing too.

and its fairly cheap compared to some

I will agree there... though I haven't heard one in person and honestly... if I had a clear baseline and then dyno of the CBE I would likely have already gone with this exhaust. It's got that deep rumble of almost a V8, but better IMO and I do love the way the old fox body mustangs sounded with a set of Flow's on them.

Their new version is coming out as well as Motordyne's version and i'm excited about both for me it's going to be one of these 2 or the F.I.

research that exhaust.
case closed.

1 problem, cannot change tips. Some of us like different tips.

^ I agree... and FI exhaust, though nice, is too visually attracting.... I like the more subdued look.

I have the GT Haus here in LA and its fine. Yea its loud, but i love it. I havent even gotten a look from a cop because once you get into 3rd and take it easy you can almost lose the exhaust note completely. You just have to change how you drive a bit. Lol, itll actually save you gas! But, when you open it up...........traffic around you just stops to clean their underwear. Just saying, if you want to embarrass almost any car on the road with your exhuast note, GT Huas is the way to go

noel61 09-02-2011 06:24 PM

hey do you have the fast intentions exhaust?? If yes do you like it? im about to buy an exhaust and I happened to come across his..

I don't know about you but for me, when driving normally and shifting around 3700 it stays quiet enough to avert the police. However, approach redline and it will blast the ear drums of surrounding motorists, its not nearly as loud in the cabin.

OP, the most popular ones are Fast Intentions, Stillen, ARK and Berk check out some sound clips and see what works for you, however if I was you I'd first invest in some motordyne art pipes, they have stellar reviews.

This... I have a set as my only mod right now... the pipes are just excellent in every way.

By the way, GT Haus ftw! I have this system paired with ERZ HFCs and when I go into any underpass or under a train, WOT and people's faces go like this: O_O!

what exhaust should i get on my z

any suggestions

gomer_110 05-20-2012 04:45 PM

On a more serious note, while at AutoX school today I almost had to beat people off with a stick who wanted to compliment my exhaust. Granted I've got Long Tube Headers along with my CBE which might be too aggressive/not legal for you but even before the headers it sounded great with just the Non-res CBE.

Another Newbie Question

I am a hot rodder coming over to the dark side with a new 370 Roadster Touring in Black Cherry. Now...I need exhaust! My 427's and 406's have to breath well and I am sure this thing does need it too. Besides, I cannot HEAR it! What is the best bang for the buck out there for a little sound and some super improved breathing?

edub370 05-27-2012 10:00 AM

depends, are u wanting a full system for better performance or the loudest system, or maybe just some muffler deletes for a little added sound?

1940Ford 05-27-2012 10:55 AM

Exhaust

Looking for a little better sound, not loud, with some flow improvement. I have flowmasters on my rods and maybe it is just the big block ford motors but the sound is deep and mellow with cam pulses. Kinda looking for a similar low, throaty and mellow sound.

danelonson 05-27-2012 11:17 AM

I believe almost everyone will tell you that Fast Intentions is the way to go.

370ZilverZ 05-27-2012 11:24 AM

If you want sound from your intakes, then K&N typhoons are the way to go with a set of long tube headers and CBE from fast intentions, you'll be smiling.

RandyD 05-27-2012 11:32 AM

i'm happy with stillen g3 intakes and AAM Competition ti-tip short tails..

UNKNOWN_370 05-27-2012 12:43 PM

The cheapest way to get sound @ minimal cost is a custom non-resonated midpipe. You will hear your car on throttle and turn on will be louder as well. Especially cold starts.

But to get opyimum sound. I would with a full exhaust set up. Intake, headers, exhaust, test pipe. Just like a v8 except you have less room to wwork and lacking some torque. The trade off. More agility, near flawless handling and tons upon tons of feedback. :)

Ebay Y pipe + resonator removal + washer mod = LOUUUUDDD

henry0844 05-27-2012 01:38 PM

a nice cat back exhaust will do the trick. depends on how loud u want your car to be. if you just want a nice deep tone but not too loud, just get an exhaust that replaces the y pipe back. high flow cat and headers is really loud and drones in the cockpit, but gives really good power gains. a good cat back system will give you about 15-20 whp and make the car sound sweet. oh and, welcome to the dark side;-)

:iagree:

Fast Intentions LTH + Non-res CBE = really f***ing loud and some drone
stock cats + Fast Intentions Non-res CBE = perfect for just street driving

henry0844 05-27-2012 05:38 PM

berk, best sounding in my opinion;-)

As we speak Berk is having some problems. There are two people on this forum that has experienced some issues with Berk, so I would stay far away from them.

+1............ :iagree: A lot of people do go with the F. I. exhaust & you get the most hp from them. If you want a unique & exotic sound then I say go with the Meisterschaft full cat back exhaust system as I did. In the end you will have to wait anywhere from a month & a half to three months for a F. I. or Meisterschaft exhaust, but I cannot speak for the others out there b/c I was never interested in them.

The ART pipes are your only breathing mod? Tell me how they sound over stock cats.

:iagree: :iagree: I have the FI HFC's and CBE. They look and sound best of all exhaust systems on the market today.

Vbp6US 05-28-2012 05:18 PM

I say it depends on the budget. If you want the most HP, regardless of the cost, FI all the way.

If you don't mind gaining some HP but you know you're not gaining all the potential HP, but you're also paying about half the price, pick something else like a used exhaust, or topspeed, etc.

New Exhaust Suggestions

I was looking into geting a new exhaust system for my nismo, because I want it to sound meaner. I was thinking about getting a Borla cat-back exhaust system. I was wondering if anyone has installed this on their car and what they think? I'm also open to other suggestions other than Borla. I'm trying to stay under $1500 if possible.

Tribalpinoy91 06-08-2012 12:12 PM

I don't know if i would chose a borla system for the Z, my only reason being is because no one here has it on their car...take it for what its worth.

CorbinDallas 06-08-2012 12:15 PM

I'd say HKS Hi power but there's no way you'll find a new one for $1500. But, IMHO it's on the best sounding exhausts on a Z. It's more exotic sounding than most others. I have it and could not be any happier.

90 ST 06-08-2012 12:34 PM

Gready, should be in that 1500 range... Not sure what the numbers were like, but the CNT racing one had a nice sound to it, and it's under 1000 for sure!

I don't think there are local z meets where I live. I'm one of two nismos i've even seen on the road. Very few base 370s driving around. I live just west of stl,mo. I also feel like youtube videos don't do exhaust justice so its been hard trying to find an exhaust i like

QVu 06-08-2012 01:09 PM

FI CBE. I have it on mine, love it.
