Would like to get the exhaust tips centered up. Anyone know a good trick for this?

Provide a pic? It depends on how it is not centered. Is one tip higher than the other? or is it sitting further to one side?

Just over to the left a little. Up and down is fine.

Hmm, You may want to check the fitment again. I can only think of a fix for up and down not so much right to left.

Top Speed Axle Back

I personally have the Top Speed Axle Back exhaust. You wont notice any horsepower gains, drone is a lil bad between 2000rpm and 3000rpm. But it sounds good! And tone is much deeper.

Anybody have the AAM R-Line 3" Exhaust? So far its the only one I've found I like, but before pulling the trigger I want to hear thoughts on it, hopefully from somebody who has it. Here is the URL:

I bought the Z four months old and a custom exhaust was done to the car by previous owner. They took the Muffler's off only; and replace them with Stainless Resonators and custom 4.5 inch tips. I have had so many people complement me on the mean aggressive sound and the cool look of the fitment. So the cats and the original resonators where left on , so a axel back custom job.

This may help.

I'm looking for an exhaust with a nice deep idle sound that gets aggressive during hard acceleration but tame when cruising.
I was thinking about the Ark GRiP but I heard the angling of the mufflers creates ground clearance issues. If that's true, is there room to adjust the mounting? If not, what other suggestions would you have for me?

Silverstone 06-11-2016 11:33 AM

I've done considerable research of the Fast Intentions TDX and ARK Grip V2 exhausts. They both have clearance issues at the canisters, but even lowered people have gone without scraping them.

A downside to the ARK Grip is supposedly a flange that acts as a low point under the body. The TDX does not have this issue. The ARK Grip also previously had issues of contacting the center chassis brace. This could have been fixed in the V2 variant.

Either way, I'm still trying to decide between these two, as they both have a certain sound. Both are great, quality exhausts with numerous happy customers. Leaning towards the TDX personally, though.

Ben370 06-11-2016 11:04 PM

It looks like ARK fixed it though...
Here's a pic off google.

If I am going Gamma SC, what cats do I get that will handle this, high temps and won't break?

shadow85 12-20-2016 03:55 PM

So what exhaust is quieter and less droney out of Ark DTS and Akrapovic Titanium Evolution system?

Was considering FI with 18" res, but after reading many threads apparantly they will have drone because they don't use helmholtz tech.

SS_Firehawk 12-20-2016 04:05 PM

Get a Fast Intentions exhaust with milspec cats if you want cats. Another option is Motordyne, they have some cat options to integrate in their exhausts

An 18" resonated fast intentions exhaust with cats built in won't drone much. The Ark DTS is a quieter exhaust, but I'm not sure if it's any better than fast intentions with drone.

I have an AAM exhaust on my car now that I'm selling that doesn't drone. It's comparable to the Fast intentions exhaust power wise and they based it off the Nismo exhaust. If you're interested, just PM me.

shadow85 12-20-2016 04:56 PM

why are you selling and what are you getting next?

I am not going for loudness, I want an aftermarket that is still around or under 90dB idle and no drone with daily driving!

Also must have atleast 10whp gain.

SS_Firehawk 12-20-2016 05:19 PM

I ordered a Fast Intentions exhaust with 12" resonators, carbon fiber cans and prismatic tips. Its what I wanted originaly, but time was not onmy side. It is now. The AAM exhaust really does sound great. You'll gain closer to 20hp with it. I have resonated testpipes to match it too, but they're not cats. It's aggressive, but not obnoxious is the best way I can say it. I'm just super particular. Honestly I'm wasting money buying something else. I won't make more power lol.

shadow85 12-20-2016 06:48 PM

Well I can't buy your exhaust anyway koz I am in AU. Shipping would kill me in a heartbeat.

I can get ARK or Akrapovix exhausts here locally koz we have official distributors of them here, so I won't be charged shipping.

I think I may heading towards the DTS, I am yet to find out negative things on them. I wonder if I can use the Akrapovic CF tips on the Ark DTS?

I love the look of those CF tips, so mean!

Motordyne is louder than the FI 18"

I think I may settle on the fast Intentions 18" + CF tips.

Lose the 18" and go Non-Resonated

Nope I don't want loud!

Ghost116 01-08-2017 08:48 PM

Alright if someone like the look and sound of ark exhaust but is. Posted and wants a full 3inch exhaust what would anyone suggest?

F1Chase 01-08-2017 09:13 PM

I have the Stillen cat back. It makes the car sound so much better and has a factory feel to it. Nice pick up in power along with the cold air intakes from Stillen as well.

Ok help me chose exhausts in my siituation:

I am planning on getting a AAM TT KIT very soon and originally planned on getting the FI TT-TDX 3" Exhaust system.

But the cost to buy that exhaust, ship it to Australia, pay customs and GST and duty, and what ever freight forwarding fees, will amount to ~$2400 USD landed to me. $2400USD is about $3200 AUD.

I can order one of those full titanium jap exhausts through local dealers for $3200 AUD landed. Like Amuse, or Midori Seibi.

Would it be better off I go with one of them?

I am not trying to be a JDM Fanboy, but the cost of getting the FI exhaust to me is going to = the cost of those JDM exhausts.

NismOrly22 02-13-2017 03:51 PM

Armytrix and Meistershaft are the best sounding exhausts I've heard on Z's. With Motordyne rounding out the top 3.

From what I have heard on YouTube, I would totally agree. Fitting my GTHaus up this weekend!

Coolhwhip 08-27-2017 02:41 PM

What exhaust should I get?

Looking for a nice loud exhaust that will be low drone, won't blow the bank, and any gains would be a ++ lol. On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being waking up the neighborhood, I want around a 6-7. Any suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks everyone!

Just bite the bullet and get Motordyne; It is the best.

Nixin 08-28-2017 03:01 PM

Best bet is to review the intake and exhaust section of this forum. You can read the reviews and opinions of the members that have replaced the oem exhaust. If you want to save time and don't feel like reading the reviews/comments, then just go and order a Fast Intentions CBE.

That is like asking what should I eat for lunch. The best way to know what your looking for is try to reach out to local members to see what they are running & meet up with them.

BlackZMamba 08-29-2017 04:29 PM

Probably Fast Intentions Catback with 18" Resonators. That's what I have. I would recommend pairing it with their resonated high flow cats. If you pair it with test pipes you will get more power but it will get louder.
