Fujimura Auto Rocket Dancer Exhaust??

Has anybody out there got the Fujimura Auto Rocket Dancer Exhaust?

Fujimura Auto Rocket Dancer Gentle Sound Muffler Exhaust Z34 Fairlady Z

Here is the sound clip?
http://www.fujimura-auto.co.jp/movie/Z34_sound.wmv

If so what do you think of the quality and sound in person. Is it a nice sound over stock? Is there any drone? It certainly looks the part! I have deliberated for months - I just want my exhaust to look stock(ish), sound better, not break the bank nor deafen me. I decided the AAM S-line axleback was probably too loud as it is a muffler delete.

Any alternative axle-backs?

Thanks

GZ3 03-04-2011 03:29 PM

what a silly name....sounds good though

SPOHN 03-04-2011 03:31 PM

Sounds like a Elton John song.

Ha ha. Yeah you're probably right... but hopefully only in its name! I just wonder if anyone has any experience of this axle-back because it does sound really good to me on this vid.

GZ3 03-04-2011 03:39 PM

sounds ALLOT like a fujitsubo...

kenchan 03-04-2011 03:44 PM

i got one on my car. it sounds really good. it's only the rear section so doesn't sound nearly as deep as most catbacks ... which is what i wanted. thing opened up the power quite a bit too per my butt-dyno.

yah not sure where they got that silly name. does NOT sound like the fujitsubo... closer to a trust product.

realneal370z 03-04-2011 06:02 PM

kenchan. do you like it then? how does it compare to stock? is there any drone noticeable above the road noise. i just think the stock exhaust is barely audible unless flooring the throttle.

Nearly $900 bucks for two exit pipes?

Do they at least buy you dinner before they **** you?

Wait. This isn't a Cat-back?

Don't worry it's "gentle," it says so on the title.

To answer your question, a Stillen cat back exhaust looks pretty close to stock and doesn't have a drone.

For $900 bucks plus shipping that's about as "gentle" as a 19" steel baton rammed up your asshole :tiphat:

yep, actually i like it a lot. the sound is imho just right, not deep, not super loud, not quiet by any means, no drone, and no need for a stupid silencer.
oh yah, and easy to install. hahahahaha. :D

the other option was one of the greddy catbacks. i cant remember the name of it there's 2 kinds. one of them sounds very similar to the fujimura.

my main issue with the stock and nismo exhaust (the dealer option one) were that they're too quiet. i think i paid like 850 or 900 shipped for mine so about right considering a decent catback is about 1500 range or more. i dont know for sure, but i think it's oem'ed by Blitz.

is 900 that big of a deal to you? then you're in the wrong park. lol

realneal370z 03-05-2011 06:26 AM

Kenchan, thanks for that. It sounds like what I'm after. It is deeper than stock though isn't it? It sounds so in the vid, but perhaps not as deep as Tanabe or Fast Intentions. My problem is that I live in the UK where good aftermarket exhuasts are hard to get hold of (and also I'll never hear any of these in person before buying because they're not easily accessible). So I have to import a system from the US and so the shipping costs come into play and the catbacks are more expensiveto ship! And I only want to improve the sound and keep stock-like looks - a few extra HP is a bonus.
Tanabe catback = $1100 + $310 to ship (plus whatever taxes UK decide to sling on it)
Fujimura Auto = $922 +$150 to ship.
Is it worth the extra to get a full catback?

realneal370z 03-05-2011 06:34 AM

Kenchan, have you got any vids of the Rocket Dancer? (all Elton John laughs aside :icon17: )

kenchan 03-05-2011 07:23 AM

I don't have any vids. Hahaha :D

The sound is definitely deeper and much louder than stock but not obnoxiously loud at all.
As far as price its really up to you. It wasn't the determining factor for me. I liked the sound and the convenince of easy install was a plus.

Where can I order a set if I decide thats the way I want to go.looking for a little exsta sound without going crazy.I guess they will fit a nismo.never mind found it

Kenchan,

Can you please scan the install instructions/schematics and hit me with an email? I would greatly appreciate it, if doable.

For the fujimura? Very straightforward. Drive car up on ramps or raise the rear.
Disconnect the exhaust flanges, remove exhaust hangers from car (remove at the brackets from frame), drop the stock muffler, remove the black metal cover aft of the rear right tire, install the fujimura one at a time (you may need to use a couple of washers between the chassis floor and hanger brackets to align height. Connect the exhaust flanges, done. I don't think it came with instructions but you shouldn't need it. :)

realneal370z 03-06-2011 06:21 AM

Sounds like there is some interest in this exhaust. I'm glad it's easy to install.

Jordo! 03-06-2011 01:36 PM

Guys -- it's two exit pipes with small mufflers. It just replaces the rear muffler. It is NOT worth the money :icon14:

You can buy a full catback for that, which also replaces one of the most restrictive parts of the OEM exhaust system -- the factory Y pipe.

Imagine spending $536 for a single tailpipe muffler plus connecting flange -- sounds insane? Well that's what you be doing, x2.

How awesome could it possibly sound for that price? How much power do you expect to gain? It's your money, but I can tell you that the price is only worth it if it's personally delivered by beautiful geisha who will give you hand and blow jobs after they install it for you.

And, yeah, Kenchan, a thousand dollars for two hunks of steel pipe is a big deal to me. Would you pay $250 for a PB&J sandwhich just because you have the cash lying around?

I'm glad you feel it was worth it, but honestly it aint.

YES. WITHOUT QUESTION.

If you really just want a set of mufflered exit pipes, search for threads by Kastley -- he's found a couple of exit pipes like that for about 1/4 the cost. How much you wanna bet they sound and perform pretty much exactly the same as the Rocket Fairy Magic ones.

Or, have a shop custom make them -- definitely will cost a lot less.

Yep, just have some washers handy to align the tip heights. :)

Thanks for the post. Is there a resonance can on the exhaust?

Rep Point sent

kenchan 03-08-2011 12:33 PM

yep, one can per pipe. here's the manufacturer's pict:

here's the link to their sound:

kenchan 03-08-2011 12:39 PM

here's more translations...

you can tell it's significantly louder than stock in the proximity measurement. (they dont say distance...)

------------STOCK----FUJIMURA
Idle:-------60.0db----64.8db
Proximity:--83.3db----94.5db~
Weight:----11.45kg----7.0kg
Power:-----303.4ps---315.1ps
Torque:-----34.9kg----36.0kg

Subjective viewpoint is subjective. If kenchan likes the exhaust then it's worth it to HIM. Nobody is telling you to go get it on your car! It's the same argument even for a catback exhaust, my amuse exhaust costs an arm and a leg but I really like the system. Sure my butt dyno tells me my F.I. exhaust gave me the same power, but i wanted to splurge a bit and get a nice shiny titanium exhaust. do i expect everybody else to buy it? no. but was it worth it to me?

...ooooh yeah.

ところで、ケンちゃん、そのマフラー。。。気持ち悪いよ:rofl2:

looked up some reference points. For the proximity it's almost the equivalent of...

"Boeing 737 or DC-9 aircraft at one nautical mile (6080 ft) before landing . . . 97 dB"

kenchan 03-08-2011 12:51 PM

thanks phelan.

97dB is twice louder than 94dB. 3dB = ~2x SPL.

so the fujimura is not very loud. it is quite loud vs stock but not deep so it doesnt seem as loud as most catbacks are.

I like this exhaust setup; smart way to get around state inspections just for its ease of installation.
