It leaks exhaust out of the flex joint, you can hear the leak and feel it if you put your hand around it. If you dont hear an exhaust leak yours isn't cracked =]

Just bought a Gemini exhaust. So any update on this issue?

do you have HFC/test pipes?

Daishi 04-27-2011 11:31 PM

Fi long tube headers.. still the joints should not be failing.

Thanks for updating. Good to be able to put a finger on the cause.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with the Invidia catback for the Z. I've had the Invidia catback exhaust, downpipe, and up pipe for my Subaru WRX for 2 years now with zero issues.

Sorry you guys are having problems, sounds like the mfg has been working with you on the issue and hopefully they resolve the issue once and for all. And maybe provide an upgrade to folks that have already purchased their product.

Is there a picture of the OEM cat bracket that is needed to be reused? I'm getting my ART pipes put on this weekend and don't wanna go through any headaches.

Kind of hard to make out in this picture, but its in the bottom right, it connects both cats. It's really hard to miss when youre under the car.

glad everything worked out.

I contacted who i got the exhaust from and they are sending me out a new piece right away.. Still though if it happens again invidia needs to use a higher quality flex joint.. looking on other forums and searching the flex joint issue seems to be a semi common occurance. Thats what the flex joint is there for.. to flex from the vibration and movement of the engine if it keeps breaking because of that whats the point.

yeah its pretty clear that with enough abuse it cracks. I broke 2 driving normally simply because I didn't have that bracket. so far its holding up good but im worried about when I take it to the track or the extra stress from the super charger. if it brakes again ill likely have a shop weld in some custom flex joints.
