Why is the stock exhaust ,,,
Why is the stock exhaust so unexciting and dull??
I test drove a Genesis coupe that had a more exciting exhaust note then the Z. How do the Nismo pipes sound? |
Washer mod. ;) How the 370Z should have sounded from the factory.
|
It actually sounds better from outside the car, but still sucks IMO. Hence the large number of aftermarket exhaust options.

what's a washer mod

For the other guy, washer mod = spacing the muffler section of the exhaust from the rest of the exhaust system with washers (creating a huge exhaust leak). It actually sounds very good. :tiphat: |
Okay, i'll be quite honest, i truly, and i mean this, truy dont see how the washer mod is ricey. granted if it made the car soud like crap and you still did it for some ''noise'' then yeah, it's dumb. but to be quite honest, i think it sounds truly amazing, like as if you had an exhaust anyways..
i have done the washer mod actually, and i love it(if you couldnt already tell ;) haha) but in all seriousness, i have a great taste in cars and things to do with them, i am by no means a ricer, so yeah just my .02 |

Um. That sounds ricey. It's a "mod" that has zero performance gains but makes the car sound like its "aggressive" or "fast". Rice.
You can always install a turbo whistle if you want your car to sound cool... http://www.the370z.com/members/thori...whistler-1.gif http://www.turbowhistler.net/turbo-whistle/index.htm |
I disagree. It simply makes the 370Z sound like it should from the factory.
For the purposes of my wife's car, I'm not really concerned about making any power gains with any exhaust mods. I'm as hardcore as it gets when it comes to building my own stuff for performance - hell, I have an entire room downstairs dedicated to spare engine parts and engine building tools (because they don't belong in the garage lol) - if you're going to call me a ricer because I don't want to waste $1200+ on an exhaust, then to each his own. And technically speaking, it removes a lot of back pressure associated with the stock muffler setup and probably does make a measurable 5-7 WHP. Gutting the muffler on my Evo X made a measurable 12 WHP, so I see no difference in directing that exhaust gas out before the muffler minus the turbulence that it creates. |

well i mean when you put it that way, i definitely see where you're coming from. idk, i just think it's a good alternative to people that cant really afford an exhaust right away. oh and btw im not like trying to be a douche or anything lol, just our opinions :) |
