Even under high load between 2-3k? How about paired with HFC?

With SS catback and 18" resonators, I had ZERO rasp, and a tiny bit of drone right at the 57/58 mph mark in 6th gear. That's literally the only place in the entire powerbad that I had any drone...which was very mild and didn't mind one bit, especially because you can just kick it into 5th and avoid or go a few mph more.
After having the catback for over a year, I decided to add resonators to Resonated Cat Pipes. Absolutely LOVED this setup! Auto-X'd, tracked, and also drove the car down to ZdayZ and Miami and back up to MN! ***NO DRONE OR RASP!!!!!!!!! I can't assure you any more then this, wouldn't have sat in a car for 80 hours in 2 weeks if the car produced a drone....trust me you'll love it! |

So I would need that and 18" resonators to cut out all drone & vibration? Would the RHFCs work with the 12" resonators to cut out all drone & vibration?
|
Why do my comments go ignored LOL. I had little to no drove with my NON-Resonated FI system and just a little tolerable drone now with the addition of Non-Resonated Test Pipes. Not bad for a system with no cats no resonates and only two straight path mufflers.

I installed my setup w/ 18" resonators -- I have a little bit of drone around 2 - 2.33818300. I don't have the time to let it bother me because I'm too busy grinning from ear to ear :D

For a DD and too be relatively livable I will recommend the 18" resonators 100% and would also say add Carbon Fiber because this makes the exhaust note deeper and more exotic versus Stainless steel. It's quiet when you want it to be and will scream as well when needed.

My car is absurdly loud, I couldn't imagine running LTH/TP's and a non-resonated FI CBE on a DD...
For whatever that's worth. |
I have 2 questions about the FI CBE with 18" resonators...
1) I know this is subjective, bit how bad is the drone at highway cruising in 6th gear (65-80 mph range)? On a scale of 1-10: 1 being stock system (no droan), 10 being unbearable, taking the CBE off the next day. 2) How much lower are the mufflers compared to stock? The pictures look much lower where they dip down at the forward edge, but the website says no lower than stock. I don't plan on lowering the car, but I don't want these things rubbing or things getting hung up. Thanks!! :driving: |

2) If you don't plan on lowering, you will be fine. I've only had the exhaust on for abouut 3 weeks now, but I've yet to hit it on anything and the roads here in NJ are pretty terrible. Also, I've seen mention of rattle on the interior - I'm guessing this is install error or something cause mine is rock solid. No rattling or shaking the interior at all, not on cold start or anything. I've said this before, but I drove an SRT-4 with a catless turbo back exhaust for like 6 years - the last thing I wanted with the Z was loud *** exhaust that drones terribly - and I couldn't be happier with the F.I. purchase. You will not regret it. |
Thanks for the response BC, that is very helpful! I've watched some of the videos of the FI CBE and it sounds amazing. I was just concerned about the level of drone because it is a daily driver, during the summer anyways. I wonder if any other Roadster owners have installed FI CBE... because I know the cabin resonance is different between coupe and roadster. I've driven both and the roadster is actually quieter inside than the coupe due to the interior shape and cloth top. It doesn't have as much booming as the coupe in stock form.
Just out of curiosity, the slight drone you mentioned around 60 mph, it is better or worse with your windows down? Does it disappear with windows down due to wind and road noise? Thanks! |

I'll play with the window up/down thing when I'm on my way home from work tonight and report back on how it sounds. |
