For all you who experienced this exhaust, how bad is this? I already know this exhaust sounds amazing but I'm going to be using my Z as a daily driver so I dont want to regret getting it. Btw I want to get Stainless steel 18".

Drone is subjective and everyone will perceive it differently. We have 5 different CBE options for all different sound levels. Some are loud and some in my opinion are quiet. In addition I have sensitive ears so I am not deaf by any means. As far as a vibration you might feel a slight one during certain RPMS through the gas pedal. But very slight as long as the exhaust is installed correctly. The exhaust is very rigid once installed and nothing is close to the floor so unless it is rubbing on something you will be fine.

I have installed over 60 systems myself and never had an issue and I have no doubt that you will love it! Whichever options you decide to go with.

One last note, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me directly...

Thank you, Tony

Quick Question...

(setup ordered: FI CBE non resonated, non resonated TP as well.) I ordered my FI exhaust last week. Listening to vids and doing my research, I was pretty certain I knew what I wanted. I talked to tony and solidified everything over the phone. My initial thoughts were that I wanted to really wake this car up. Reading all this drone rattle business didnt really get me worried but I figured why not take the opportunity to ask you guys, since you have it installed already, is it anything Im going to need earplugs for? I like a loud exhaust, but I dont want to be droned out of my car (which from what I read and saw I dont think will be an issue.) However like I said better safe than sorry... From what Im expecting Ill have some drone but minimal, and minimal rasp... anyone care to jump in here and fill in the blanks with some solid experience?

the only time I get any sort of drone is when the engine is under load... going up inclines, or slightly increasing speed... as soon as I settle at a speed... the sound is gone. I don't have any vibrations. I have the ART pipes with the F.I. CBE with 18" resonators.

I can attest to calling Tony, being a solid solution to any questions you may have. We are all busy at times, and not always able to read and respond to PM's and such, as timely as we would like. I called Tony, and he sounded busy, however he didnt hesitate to take the call in his office and answer all of my questions and concerns; and walked me through ordering my system. Mad props to Tony and Fast Intentions for a job well done!! :werd:

The one thing I wanted to avoid, was installing my system and wishing it were louder. The one great thing that I see so far coming from F.I., is the fact that they have many sound options for their systems from extremely refined, to a throaty race exhaust. I'm sure Im going to love the system I ordered once installed!... I CAN NOT WAIT!!

i'm sure you will... my issue here has always been is it's hick country and if you drive the loudest jacked up POS you'll be fine with the cops... have an import with even a mild set-up and you'll be pulled over. However, turning 33 this year definitely has made me more tame and for me the tone is excellent when I want it to be, and mild when I want it to be.

I currently live in Philadelphia, and cops are very lenient when it comes to exhaust; unless your running straight pipes on an Olds 442 LOL. And like I said from what I saw on Youtube, Tony seems to have a pretty solid product that like Methodical said, is excellent when he wants it to be or mild when he wants it to be... I spoke with another forum member (mtaxelson) who went with the resonated system and he stated after the system broke in and quieted down, it was the perfect note for him but borderline quiet for his liking, and he wasnt sure if he should have gone with the 12" resonated system over the 18". So worst case scenario, I install the system and it is in fact too loud, I can always throw on the stock cats. . . I'm pretty sure Im worried for nothing here... So far it doesnt appear that anyone running the non resonated CBE with the Non resonated TP's has deafening drone, and that is really my only concern here.

I said it before and I will say it again. I still get hard every time I start it up! Take it out for a spirited drive and that's all she wrote.

You are the first person I heard say that the 18" reso system was loud. But like everyone said, its subjective.

I'm in the same boat. I bought the F.I. 12" system and while it sounds great on the outside of the car, the drone inside around 3K RPMs is terribly annoying. I also get the rattling sound from the drone. I also think the exhaust tone is a bit too much for my neighbors. Any suggestions to tone it down some and get rid of the drone sound in the cabin?

Switch to 18" resonators. Won't probably change it much on the outside but should reduce drone inside according to FI.
Also, tell your neighbors to :gtfo2:

FI 12" CF CBE with Motordyne Art pipes. Some drone but not overly unbearable. Interior and exterior sound is top notch. Just took my Z on a 6 hour trip and I had no issues with the drone

cg2006 05-05-2013 12:40 PM

I'm trying to see if someone wants to swap with me for 18" ones - http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...esonators.html

Do the ART pipes really help with the drone noise? I don't plan on getting CF canisters.
