I just had my FI exhaust installed a couple weeks ago. I went with the 18" resonators, but I also had resonated Test Pipes installed. So far, I've noticed a little drone at certain RPMs, but it's not bad at all. As for the mufflers, I have yet to scrape anything on my stock NISMO (knock on wood!).

Thanks for the response BC, that is very helpful! I've watched some of the videos of the FI CBE and it sounds amazing. I was just concerned about the level of drone because it is a daily driver, during the summer anyways. I wonder if any other Roadster owners have installed FI CBE... because I know the cabin resonance is different between coupe and roadster. I've driven both and the roadster is actually quieter inside than the coupe due to the interior shape and cloth top. It doesn't have as much booming as the coupe in stock form.

Just out of curiosity, the slight drone you mentioned around 60 mph, it is better or worse with your windows down? Does it disappear with windows down due to wind and road noise? Thanks!

So I did a little cruising yesterday at 60 in 6th - windows up and windows down and it was pretty much the same with both. It seemed the exhaust got a little louder with the windows down, but that was cancelled out by the wind/road noise.

Cool, thanks for checking.

So do the resonators help reduce drone or solely muffle the overall volume of the exhaust across all RPMs?

I just got my Z and I'm ready for some more HP, so I was going to go with the HFC + 8" resonator and the CBE + 18" resonator to try to limit the drone. But I don't mind a loud exhaust (had straight pipes w/o cat on my MR2 for a long time), so if the resonators don't help with the drone then I might not bother with them.
