I'm fairly new to this forum and this is my first reply. I installed a Stillen Cat-back and Berk HFCs. Stillen because it is not lower than stock and Berk because they are OBDII compliant. The sound is not quiet, for me, and I would not want it any louder. Fitment on the Stillen is poor, at best. The left tip was perfectly centered and the right tip was inboard one half inch. Also, the tips are not equal fore and aft. The mechanic who installed the system said there is no adjustment, so I took it to a custom exhaust specialist of 34 years. He was able to heat and tweek the hangers to get the tips equally misaligned. Fore and aft, no. The other option was to cut and reweld the tips, which I didn't do yet.

Stillen's answer was "sorry, you mounted and ran the exhuast, we will not take it back." So basically their return policy is, if you don't like the way it looks in the box, send it back. Thanks, Max and Chuck at Stillen. Pesonally I will no longer support Stillen for their lack of support regarding their product.

I am also sorry my first reply is negative feedback. I've been following this forum since March of this year and purchased my 2010 370Z in May. I do like this forum and love my Z.

Regards,

Well let me just say "Welcome" this is a great forum ! :tiphat:

I’m really sorry to read about your experience with Stillen's CBE.

Have you tried to reach out to Josh@Stillen who is often on these boards?

If that’s the case, IMO it just would have made good customer service sense, just to have swap out that part at least!

I’m just trying to figure out how to determine you have a fitment issue without installing first?

That being said, thanks, for the heads up, I will certainly look at my exhaust shipment tomorrow.

Good luck,

Alex

Good choice. Non resnonated is the loudest. 12 res is in the middle and 18 res is a little bit louder.

FYI: The 18" is quieter than the 12" due to the extra length, that makes it quieter;)

Glad you like yours. I don't like the tips (personal opinion) and it looks like WGJB had issues like others have.

The OP will have "0" fitment issues with the FI CBE. Good choice ;)

ahh, another exhaust thread turns into a VS. thread, since we're all giving opinions, I think any exhaust with a fart can muffler looks riced out as fvck, but hey, thats my opinion

Congrats on your purchase Moha, its a nice sounding setup, hope you dont mind the drone though, because with any setup offered, it has it.

MOHA 08-30-2010 02:38 PM

Thank you all for helping me to decide to go for the FI over Stillen. but i'm confused about one more thing which is the loudness of the FI, so i posted a thread to help people like me to decide.

Regards,,:tiphat:

I love the FI exhaust's look and sound, but more $, same gains, and god knows if I'd still have the car by the time it got here is what drove me to the Stillen.

Regards,

I am honestly shocked that he was unable to align it correctly if somebody with absolutely no experience with exhausts was able to mount it with the same protrusion as the stock exhaust in 60 seconds.

“If you want a heavier, quieter exhaust that has ridiculously large tips that stick past the bumper, get Stillen.” Sorry in my book that’s over the top!

And no you didn’t rain on my parade; I’m very much looking forward to having the Stillen exhaust installed.

The exhaust will be here tomorrow, and installed the next day.

As I said I’ll try to post a video sound clip.

Alex

You'll love it

Greeting WB and Welcome to the Forum!!! :tiphat:

Sorry to hear what you went through with Stillen, and I would feel the same if I was you...

Don't be sorry for having a negative reply on your first post...Thanks a lot for keeping it real...That's what this forum is all about...to give honest and unbias opinions to other members so that they don't experience the bad stuff on their own...I know when I first bought my Z I wanted so many parts, but after becoming a member of this forum, I came to realize that what I wanted (as far as parts/performance) wasn't going to work for me...There's a lot of members here that have contributed to reviews, and have saved alot of us a lot of time and $$$$....

There are a few criteria that I have for an aftermarket exhaust. I don't want to go over them all. But the one area I think could have been improved on the Stillen design was the wieght. I don't think an aftermarket system should ever be heavier than the stock one.

I curious to know how much the Stillen weigh vs let’s say HKS, or Bark’s and F.I. any numbers?

theDreamer 08-30-2010 07:16 PM

Stock - 54lbs
Berk - 63.2lbs
F.I. - 41-47lbs
Stillen - 65.3lbs

I just find it interesting that since we are taking about weights , the S-tune Nismo exhaust that most don’t seem to like weighs 9 lbs. less than stock , go figure!

Any HKS numbers?

Thanks,

Alex

All this negativity for 11.3 Lbs.? Just hit the gym and lay of the burrito's and it will even out.

Hey, I just had Freebirds. :p

LiquidZ 08-30-2010 08:52 PM

I just had a burrito. I definitely don't want to cut them out.

christian370z 08-30-2010 09:01 PM

If you lose the stock cats with a set of HFCs, you shed 7 pounds off the car from what I measured when I pulled my stockers off and weighed in the Berks.
