i think i remember hear that those cans next to the mufflers act as resonators (Helmholtz perhaps) at low RPMs to help noise and scavenging but are bypassed at higher

i think i remember hear that those cans next to the mufflers act as resonators (Helmholtz perhaps) at low RPMs to help noise and scavenging but are bypassed at higher RPMs when it is better to have the exhaust free flow as quickly as possible.
