Default NISMO Exhaust or not

This is not meant to be a "which aftermarket exhaust is best" thread. There are plenty of those.

My question is:

If the only aftmarket exhaust you could get was the NISMO (for warrenty issues) is it still worth the expense to power gains?

Nismo exhaust is not worth to get unless you like the sound only....lol

There shouldn't be any warranty issues with the car. The only thing being void is the stock exhaust since that was the only thng taken off.

I think you'll get tired of it really soon after getting it cause it is really quite, IMO.

This is exactly my experience. It took about 2 weeks for me to wish for something louder and more aggressive. That said, if you'd like something a LITTLE deeper and a LITTLE louder, and you like the look of the really big and clean looking tips, then the Nismo exhaust might be for you.

I'll be selling mine within the next week...

I had the Nismo exhaust installed yesterday and I'll have to admit I'm a bit disappointed by how quite it is. Since I have a roadster and the top will be down more often than up I didn't want it too loud but I was hoping it would be a little louder. The Nismo exhaust does sound deeper and a bit louder than the original pipes, but the difference is so slight that I can't tell at all when driving with the top down in traffic. On the other hand, I only have 600 miles on my car and I'm trying to follow the owners manual break-in instructions so I haven't heard what it will sound like at full throttle.

I'd get a custom made exhaust if that were the case...

Get some HFCs too... it'll be a little louder.

I didn't really have much of a choice seeing as how mine comes with a Nismo exhaust stock (although different from the s-tune configuration, but probably same sound/sound level).

Test pipes really opened up the sound at higher RPMs/throttle, but hopefully with long tubes I should see a slight difference. I hate super loud exhausts, but even with test pipes it is slightly tamer than what I'd like.

If anything I might do some custom piping back to the mufflers or remove the resonators.

I'm wondering if the stock Nismo exhaust might actually tend to be a little louder/deeper than the S-Tune version due to the fact it's an H-Pipe vs. a Y-Pipe. Thoughts?

As some have stated, this is going to end up being all about your personal tastes. There are two Nismo exhausts. One is the S-Tune, which is the aftermarket one available from Nissan dealerships, and the other is the OEM exhaust that comes on the USDM Nismo cars. The latter exhaust is a better exhaust, IMO, as it is comes with an H pipe instead of a Y pipe.

That said, you should probably test drive a Nismo or listen to one, if possible, so you will know if the exhaust is what you seek.

Since going with twin turbos, I have an OEM Nismo exhaust for sale. Less than 200 miles on it. PM me if interested.
