Custom exhaust [Review]

So, the stock exhaust was very disappointing. Living here in Texas, there are Ford minivans that sound sportier than the 370z. I went to some random shop and asked them to make my exhaust louder. Tell me what you think of the sound?
The sound is way deeper than the stock exhaust and way much louder. The first time I started it up.. WOW! :happydance: I couldn't be any happier. It really woke my baby up. The loudness is just right.. I was afraid that it would sound annoying, but wow. It's simply music to my ears!

Yeah, nice job!! Well, not you...lol....but to the the shop that built you this. It sounds pretty good. I can't point my finger on it but it kind of sounds like the BERK or F.I. for that matter.

Sounds a lot like a Berk, Stillen or FI for that matter. Two thumbs up to the installers. It would be great to get some details and pics up for folks to see what was done. It would be hot to see a dyno too, lol. One never knows...

Nice Improvement Gunzero.
Just keep saving what ever you can for the next Mod.

STi 5 04-24-2010 11:54 AM

Do you have pics, I would like to see what they did just out of curiosity.

UFreefer 04-24-2010 11:54 AM

What changes did they make to the exhaust? New muffler, larger piping etc...

Jeffblue 04-24-2010 11:58 AM

sounds very nice, but the video is kind of echo-y

Gunzero 04-24-2010 12:09 PM

Actually guys :) I just wanted to find out what you guys would say. Yea it does sound like a Berk/Stillen exhaust.
*prepares to get flamed* This is all they did. Got the idea from ddharon.
I am really happy.. Doesn't matter if I got any gains or not. It sounds delicious.
I am saving up for more important things in life. So this $20.00 mod was well worth it.

m4a1mustang 04-24-2010 12:14 PM

So why did you pay them to do that? LOL That's a very simple DIY :)

It does sound good, though.

Trips 04-24-2010 12:17 PM

Its that the only thing you can afford then good for you!

Gunzero 04-24-2010 12:40 PM

I don't have any tools! >.<
Lol thanks Triple's.. being 19 and jobless I can't afford a full CBE :p

370Z JT 04-24-2010 12:50 PM

they added spacer washer to make the exhaust leak a little

Gunzero 04-24-2010 01:52 PM

Yea just replace the gasket with 4-5 washers and that's it!

NYBladeZ 04-24-2010 06:06 PM

I'll keep saying it, the stock exhaust really comes alive with some test pipes

Zsteve 04-24-2010 06:24 PM

As long as you know its not going to add gains and atleast you didnt gut it and ruin a piece of equipement, nothing wrong with this. Its a good mod for what its suppose to do, change the sound. Any fumes getting into the car at standstill?

semtex 04-24-2010 06:42 PM

It sounds good.

nuTinmuch 04-24-2010 07:12 PM

While it does sound good, it is sort of an... er... interesting mod.

Yes, it's creative. Gotta give it that.

craniac24 04-24-2010 07:22 PM

Do you get any rattling/buzzing/raspy noises?

nogoodname 04-24-2010 07:38 PM

Instead of spending 20 bucks on that mod you did. You could of achieved the same results for free.
Just borrow a drill and a 3/4 inch drill bit.

Drill & Paint:

$30 and you can go back to stock sound in seconds.

It's a cutout. You put it into your exhaust piping, and run stock until you take the plate off the other side, then the exhaust flows freely out of there making for very loud noise and HP gains (in cars with enough air intake to not need the back pressure).

Yea, drilling holes in the exhaust wasn't a good idea. Welded some pipes here and there to solve this.

CBRich 04-24-2010 08:02 PM

I would rather spend $20 and add washers than drill a hole in my exhaust. Sounds good man.

Since air intakes cost alot. Here's another DIY to drill holes.

Are we talking about the same thing? Look about 4 inches above the pipe outlet on the rear fascia, it looks like paint bubbling.

Thought you were talking about the welds on the pipes. They look like shit.

Those bubbles are huge, must be a reflection or something.

Gunzero 04-24-2010 08:48 PM

No rasp, rattling, or any other retarded sound. Just the clean deep tone of the VQ going burble burble burble VROOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
Just drove around today using 3/4 of my tank :D

no fumes! it still goes through the muffler you can feel the pressure going through it. and cold start smokes come out the muffler :D

ddvette9 04-24-2010 08:57 PM

damn this sounds good. I am in law school and broke when it comes to mods, especially 1,000 for an exhaust. I might have to steal that idea. Any more details on the install or part # would be cool. I would appreciate it. Thanks and again, sounds sweet.
