Default question about chipping to create correct air:fuel for aftermarket exhaust

I was listening to sound clips on this forum and I fell in love with the stillen cat back /w Berk HFCs.

I'm not the most mechanically inclined person and I have a question.

When I bought my gixxer, I put an exhaust system on it. It was driving like **** after that. then i realized the power commander chip fixed it.

Will this be the same result with a car? Will the extra air flow make it run lean? Do I need to chip this car if I install that exhaust setup?

Thanks in advance.

You'll do the exhaust. And then you'll want HFCs. And then you'll want an intake. And then you'll have the 'mod bug' illness the rest of us have.

Yep, I went Stillen CBE and Berk HFC's and loving it. I gained 14rwkw too (19rwhp) and my engine now is close to 10,000km so it is a lot more looser now so i'd expect a few more kw too

Hehe, well honestly I won't be driving this car like I stole it. It'll be a fun A-B and a weekend cruiser. Won't be raced in any way. Just want something for when I don't feel like jumping on the bike. It's already faster than this car could ever be for 1/4 the price.

But I do want to do a number of cosmetic changes. First being an in dash nav / dvd and tint.

nothing wrong with financing... if you can afford it. mods on the other hand are most often a complete waste of money for most people who think they are necessities but when looked back upon after the car is sold or whatever are seen as a money pit!

If you do intake+headers+hfc+exhaust, then get a tune. If you are only going to do exhaust and hfc you will be fine without a tune. Just make sue to reset the ecu

How do you reset the ECU? Also, from what I understand, your warranty cannot be voided unless they find that the problem was a direct cause of your mods. is that true?

Unplug the battery to reset the ECU. And your understanding of warranty is correct. Although that doesn't preclude the possibility of a dealership trying to blame a problem on your mods when they in fact have nothing to do with the problem. People refer to them as "stealerships" for a reason.
