Here are some pictures of my Invidia, shipped out of Chicago for 809 to my door, I keep wondering what the angled tips would look like considering the tail lights. It sounds decent without the HFCs, the diagram illustrates the design where Invidia utilizes the resonators before the Xpipe, value dominates the decision on this purchase.

Looks Nice bluemax! Will you post a sound clip?

bluestyle55 03-28-2010 08:11 AM

I have my tips pushed back a little..... The burnt tips look great with the blue Z!

Now go buy some HFC's, they sound great with the Gemini ( http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...omparison.html )

spearfish25 03-28-2010 08:54 AM

From my experience thus far, there is no good excuse for NOT having HFCs with almost any of these exhausts. They just make the exhausts sound more awesome.

djpathfinder 03-28-2010 09:36 AM

Bluemax, looks great on your Z. Will be putting on a Gemini soon too (currently on back order).

So do HFCs make sound (obnoxiously) louder or just change the sound? Or is it headers that make the exhaust significantly louder?

I'll wait to hear another Z in person, can't decide on decibel levels with Youtube vids.

Awesome price! Sounds like you are a little dissapointed on the exhaust though?

Yeah I love it !

Yea, thanks for the feedback, it must be true that HFCs are worth the money, I just decided to hold back for now, I know its going to cost a little more later. I ordered this system on Monday and it was delivered by Thursday, when UPS has its main headquarters in your town nothing takes that long. I have a peaky drone starting around 2600RPM to 2900RPM. If I can find any other slash cut tips I may jump right on it.
370Z JT is right, but its not just a dissappointment, I just wasn't overwelmed. I met some friends Friday night 09 Lexus ISF, 08 lexus 350, 04 Z06 Vette with about 1500 miles I finally thrashed the car out on the interstate. ISF had a car length and a half on me, I touted the 350, but not by that much, and the Vette ran away from all of us. I wish I had a detuned GTR power plant or the Titain's 5.6 liter V8.

You think the rolled tips sound different than the single layer TI tips they offer or just purely for aesthetics?

I like this exhaust the more I see it.

djpathfinder 03-30-2010 09:38 AM

dual wall SS tips. I'm not a fan of the discolored blue Ti tips.

I think the the Ti tips look best on white and blue cars...but the SS look best on other colors

I will probably be going with the same setup soon. I am still waiting for the Stillen CAI and the spacers/grounding kit to arrive before I order the exhaust and HFC's :yum:

Cool. My next mod after the exhaust is the Stillen CAI...you going with Gen3? Was reading the DIY...a bit of a pain to have to remove the bumper every time to service the filters, but that's what makes it a true CAI. Should work well in combination with the Invidia exhaust.

I am going with the GEN II for a few reasons.

1) This is primarily my wife's DD so she doesn't NEED more HP
2) The GEN II has a throatier sound than the GEN III
3) The GEN II is easier to service and less invasive.

With the HFC's and CBE in the future, the HP gains will be found there. The grounding kit is popular to smooth out the idle and improve throttle response as well. Thanks to 6MT for his feedback on that!

Good points about the Gen 2. I'm contemplating that might be the better way to go too b/c I don't want to be messing around with removing the front bumper all the time. The difference in HP gains between Gen 2 and 3 are likely negligible (Gen 3 sees a 7-10 HP gain through the range compared to stock, until you reach 6800-7500, where you get up to 18 HP).

I don't blame you, if I had an anniversary Z I would stick with a polished look. everything came together for me the testing videos, the price, blue Z, I just had go with the Gimini. The HFC keep bugging me though, should I?

I would...but I did HFC's first

NewlyIMPORTed 03-30-2010 11:06 PM

def get the HFC

cannot wait to see how the non dual walled tips look

nogoodname 04-03-2010 12:08 AM

This exhaust is pretty good and under 1K too.

I like the single wall tips better. Looks more aggressive. Here's a vid posted awhile ago.

chuckd05 04-03-2010 01:02 AM

removing the bumper really isnt hard or time consuming at all. just my .02

Room42 04-04-2010 04:37 PM

Just installed the Gen3 w/
my invidia Gemini cbe. Ti rolled looks sweet on pearl white. I saw 11 hp at the wheel with the cbe, haven't dynoed against the cai yet. The sound of the Gemini will change significantly with the cai addition. IMO you lose some richness/tone but it still sounds great on throttle. Deeper and more aggressive. Both boltons are great value for performance. And Gen3 was my first hands on mod - as many have said, not difficult at all, but time- consuming. Bumper removal isn't bad at all.

The BlueMax 04-04-2010 09:15 PM

Yea, nogoodname's system sounds just like mine, I didn't know if he had HFC though? The single wall looks equally good, I just couldn't be picky with the tip choice, with price I got, I just ordered. The availability of this system and price point make it attractive, the blue tips will look really good on some body colors. Room42 we need a few pictures.

Room42 04-05-2010 02:31 AM

It's the same catback as yours, it's not mine though. I remember seeing the vid like last year. The tips on this catback can be changed easily. They have rolled and single wall in burnt Ti or just polished.

Would you say the single wall tips are cut slightly more at an angle?

Thanks Room42 I didn't realize you had your system intalled in late Dec. I hadn't even bought my car then.

Room42 04-06-2010 06:39 AM

Good to see another Gemini owner :) When I ordered they only had ti burnt rolled or single - no straight polished ss at that time. I like the burnt rolled fine, though. good luck with the additional mods. Do you plan to tune? I'm considering...

I'm still looking at intake air filter set-ups, haven't decided, I need to ask about the Cobb tuned by AA, what is it, what does it cost, and how much gain is achieved. Bluestyle55 talked about how it smoothed out his power band
