370Z Borla Exhaust Development
Sounds a little to raspy for me. Embedding disabled by request YouTube - 370Z Borla Exhaust Development [YOUTUBEHQ]YUn7424iTj8#[/YOUTUBEHQ] |
The Borla doesn't sound bad when the car is actually in motion. But when it's just revving while parked, it almost sounds like it's farting.

Thank you so much for those vids, Semtex. They are awesome. I'm telling you, Berk and Stillen 'ought to direct some of the sales revenue your way because I'm sure you just sold some product with those vids!

what would everyone say is the most aggressive sounding exhaust? loooking for opinions...of HP is first but i dnt want something that sounds similar to stock

The Stillen I like especially the gains but I just can't get past the tips. I would prefer something that looks like the OEM tips but a little wider with the slants. Other then that it is a great exhaust just read Semtex review on it. Then there is the Nismo I think 2 members have that and at first it is only a small noise difference above stock. Then it eventually gets louder as it gets broken in. But I think it is still Y-pipe as opposed to X or H-pipe which will give better gains I think. |
thanks for your info...i was also thinkin about going with the borla...guess its just a waiting game from here on out

whats the name of the g37 stock exhaust i like that rasp when it goes faster

I definitely appreciate the clips. The one with the yellow Z stock vs stillen cat back doesn't do a real fair comparison though. The stock clip has an early 1-2 shift while the stillen portion revs all the way through 1 into 2. It's hard to compare.

Looks like it has backpressure bypass tubes. At low rpm it gives you backpressure so you preserve low-end torque. Then past a certain rpm it slams shut so you have the benefit of the free flow.
|
^ thats so awesome :) so mostly help w/ FI applications i take it

Nismo Catback with Berk HFC's installed
I know a lot of you have been wondering what the Nismo Catback with Berk HFC's sounds like, well here you go
I can tell you that it has made a huge difference in sound (quality and volume) The car still sounds pretty normal while cruising, (Zero Drone) but when taking off normally you can now here the exhaust note. And at WOT, wow!! It's not super loud by any means, I think some people would still say that it's mild, I'd say that if it was between mild, medium, or loud(race) this would now be a medium, where with just the Nismo catback it was mild. This is exactly the kind of tone and volume that I hoped for when I first installed the Nismo, but I was pretty disappointed. Now it has really come to life. IMO it should have sounded like this from the get go, but I guess Nismo engineers were forward thinking, knowing that a lot of people would probably install HFC's of some type and eventually end up with this result. There is no question the car is breathing much better, the throttle response has improved and with out a doubt it it quicker. Amplified Motorsports in Monterey Park did the install in about 2 hours, thanks Paul, Lou & Jet!! Oh, they also installed my cross drilled/slotted rotors at the same time, so the cats didn't take up the whole time. |
Nismo Catback & Berk HFC's launch
Ok, here is one more, launched at about 4K, and then did a mild drive by under normal RPMs
|
Holy crap! That's exactly the sound I was looking for! Not too loud but just loud enough at WOT. If it's true that there is zero drone, then I am definitely buying the Nismo Exhaust with Berk HFC! Thanks for the clips!

350Z S2000 Hopefully they'd do a set for the 370Z too!!! |

That sounds great. I just wonder what the power comparo will be like when you take a car with HFCs/Stillen and HFCs/Nismo. |
Sounds good. Any plans to do a dyno?

sounds great
very interested on how it stacks up against the stillen/hfc combo on a dyno. btw Bster don't ruin this thread with some horrible sounding exhausts....never have been fond of the HKS raspy/fart-can exhaust note. |
To Minicobra1
I had a similiar setup on my 350z (Nismo exhaust with random tech cats). I also felt the Nismo really came to life with the addition of the cats and my other breathing mods (plenum spacer and pop-charger). I really liked it. It kept the stock tone but made it more aggresive under load. The 370z iteration seems to be the same way  To Bster I remember the HKS exhaust for the 350z, I always liked how it looked a lot but the sound can get pretty raspy. It's still not bad though. That video sounds like he is running test pipes though. A lot more rasp than I remember. |
Sounds GRRRR8 Mini. That is the sound I am going for. Any check engine light??

Anyway I posted those links up as Semtex mentioned about it. I can deleted it if the original thread starter would like me to do so. I'm over in Singapore so there aren't many approved exhausts available for our country yet but HKS is one of the few that our Land Transport Authority seems to favor. |
