Berk came in

Today, Didn't even know it was on it's way because I hadn't received any tracking info but I'm not complaining ! Here are some pics and Hopefully I'll be able to get it on this week and maybe some before/after of the FI TDX 18" and BERK exhaust. I'm expecting the FI to have a larger power gain because of design but not much. These pics are off an Iphone because I currently don't have anything else at this time. This thing came package like a mother..and I didn't want to unwrap everything at this time because when I transport in the car the bubble wrap will prevent damage from exhaust on exhaust contact and exhaust on car contact ! I'll keep everyone updated !

I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!

Mine is on a truck in Houston somewhere.

B1nks 03-08-2010 03:03 PM

Hey man I may be at Secret Service on Wed if they can fit me in, I'll give you a time if you wanna stop on by. If you do let me know I'll try to schedule it so you can since I'll be getting dyno done.

theDreamer 03-08-2010 03:13 PM

Well it looks like my exhaust just dropped off and no one was home. :(

My neighbor, who is awesome, signed for it. :D
My co-worker wants to install it tonight, this will be fun.

I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna sign for mine. Think I can call UPS and have them wait until after 3pm to swing by?

Not normally because deliver times are not accurate, but I could be wrong.
Your options are these, you will get a failed deliver piece of paper:
~Sign it and leave it on the door and the next day it counts as your signature (you waive liability)
~Take it to the UPS sorting facility - you have to call ahead for this
~Have it re-routed to your work

Red370 03-08-2010 03:30 PM

That thing looks eerily similar to the Stillen, what I like about it is the exhaust tips look stock, i got these big fat things hanging of the back of mine :/

B1nks 03-08-2010 03:31 PM

You can also call and have them hold it at the sorting facility and can pick it up there. I would install it myself but I don't have anywhere to do it really since I live at apartments. I was already wanting to get the car dyno'd on the SSA dyno so I figured I'd get it put on there.

Are you going to do a before and after?

Let me know when you are going to be there, what type of dyno do they have?
After my headers are on I will need to get on a dyno to see how my A/F is doing and if a tune is needed ASAP.

FuszNissan 03-08-2010 03:35 PM

Cant wait to hear it. Congrats!

I want to, we'll see how much they will charge for that because the money is tight right now. I may do a before now and an after in april.

That sounds good, probably Wednesday or Thursday this week. They got a new Mustang Dyno and reads what I believe to be "true" like a Dyno Dynamics. I don't like to say they read "low" I prefer true. They do UpRev tunes also !

Thanks Fusz, I'll try to get a sound clip up as soon as I can.

theDreamer 03-08-2010 03:59 PM

A Houston shop that does Uprev, that is new, will have to check them out then since before I would have to go to Austin.

There's actually 2, Secret Service Auto(mustang dyno) and EngineLogics (DynoDynamics dyno). Both on the southwest side.

Find your local UPS depot in the phone book and go pick it up there. Don't have it re-routed, the more it is in the hands of others, the more damage will occur. Godspeed.

Awesome man. I bet that was a big surprise considering that they said that they were only shipping the first 5 at the time..

Termac 03-09-2010 01:32 AM

Berk Box Size & Weight

Hi B1nks

Just before you throw the box out could you please see if the shipped weight was on the box/paper work and the box measurements. Strange info but if you see my location weight and size add up to an expensive trip to Australia if this is the way I will go.

Thanks for your help and look forward to the forums comments on this CBE.

EVL370 03-09-2010 01:46 AM

x 2 for weight for Australia!

1slow370 03-09-2010 04:02 AM

oh man i hope mine shows up by monday i'm bring the car home saturday from storage to work on it before it warms up and i tooke monday off from work. got thursday off next week so i can go to my buddies b-day drinkathon and tare the differential off the car to start making the mounts before the quaife gets here. then a delrin tranny-mount to really shake things up and see what else i want to replace. Car should be a totally different animal for summer and this exhaust is the icing on the mother F'ing cake.

Termac 03-09-2010 04:20 AM

Hi B1nks

Thanks for the info mate.

roplusbee 03-09-2010 05:17 AM

I'll hit you up on a PM with my info, but I am not in a hurry. Take your time and get the BERKS installed first.

Unless EngineLogics has changed they do not do Uprev they said last time I was there, but maybe it is time to revist them.
For all those who are interested, the exhaust is on and more to come in my journal later today.

You poor aussies need more grassroots aftermarket parts developers! I cant imagine having to order all of my parts from overseas. APS and Tearstone is pretty much all you guys have!

Matt 03-09-2010 01:30 PM

I thought this seemed like an ok thread to place my initial reactions to my Berk CBE being installed.

1.) I've had toasters delivered to my house with better protection. Unlike the OP, I had no paper inbetween the pieces helping to "fill out" the box. I got a few pieces of bubble wrap around each piece, but not much other than that. It looks like someone spent an entire 5 minutes prepping this order for shipment. Luckily, even though the box was almost entirely destroyed during shipping, the exhaust appears to be free of any dents or dings....surprisingly.

2. Some other exhaust customers of other companies speak highly of the "welds" in the exhaust. I'm not an expert, but these welds do not appear to be top of the line. I'll take some pictures later, but it looks like a rush job with zero quality control.

3. I got a BERK poster of a BMW. WTF?

4. It fits in my car, even with my Zenclosures 12" box in the back! A little cramped, but I can make it to the exhaust shop just fine. Definitely a good thing!

Hopefully, this thing sounds amazing and my initial reaction will be forgotten. Right now, I'm pretty disappointed.

g96818 03-09-2010 02:34 PM

did u guys get nuts and bolts and gaskets? i had a gapping hole in my box and a big empty void in it, possibly where the nuts and bolts were placed?

i agree packing needs to be better, the edge of my muffler flange got minor damage during shipping, but thats probably what ripped the box open.

i didn't unwrap each part yet so i don't know what other damage(s) there might be

Gaskets/nuts/bolts/etc were in a baggy, but removed from their intended, protective bag.

Shoot me a pm if your interested, I'm sure we can figure something out.

Ooooph! Not the direction I thought the reviews would be going...

theDreamer 03-09-2010 06:19 PM

Well some of his points are UPS (they suck), why did they send us a BMW poster (?), and I am not expert on welds but they look good to me.

Isn't Berk in charge of the actual packaging before shipment? How can one box be with paper, another be packed with Styrofoam peanuts, and my box only have the thinnest possible bubble wrap?

I'll take some pictures of the welds I'm talking about, perhaps I'm not accurately describing what I'm seeing.

Damn Mattie I wish you had taken pics of the condition of the box upon delivery.

I guess when someone says 'free shipping', it should be taken with a grain of salt. :icon14:

Me and the UPS guy had a long talk. I was signing until I made sure everything was okay.

Here are a few pics of the box (resting on top of my VW!).

And here's a quick example of a weld that doesn't look so good to me. By all means, if this is a great weld, let me know. Maybe I'm a just a "noob" when it comes to metal work!
