Look similar to Injen, but what is the grey piece between the pipes?

That is ridiculous since bypass valves negate all the gains and takes away the whole point of having a CAI. I sure hope there is an option to take that out because unless the entire filter is completely submerged under water, the bypass valves do nothing and at that point you're f**ked anyway. I'm willing to bet that with the bypass valve in there the gains will be very minimal.

So is this design basically the same as the Injen, just AEM so maybe different pipping, that grey piece?

yeah but i can see why if they're making this for nismo they would need to slap that on. Any part that's made for oem application needs to cover their own azz from all those bs lawsuits. That's why if AEM is manufacturing this for Nismo....i will just go with Injen.

I guess you guys haven't seen an AEM intake on other vehicles. This is a common feature that nearly all of their intakes use. It only opens when the bottom filter is fully submerged. Air is easier to pull than water so it will simply pull air through the gray foam. Otherwise it stays shut and all air is pulled through the cold air intake at the bottom. This isn't something new and it doesn't destroy all the power losses. With the vast amount of knowledge here I'm surprised you guys haven't started your own intake companies.
