Default Exhaust

So I’ve been looking all around my town and other cities for anyone selling a Motordyne shockwave for my 370. I found one guy selling the complete exhaust for $1000 I asked if it had any dents/ scrapes he says it had a few scrapes but he fixed them by sanding and waxing.... he’s also had it on for 10,000 Miles prob more. My question is how long do exhaust last? Sorry for the noob question just I don’t know if I should get this or go the bran new route.

Personally I would purchase a new exhaust and only purchase a used exhaust if I seriously wanted to install an exhaust but didn’t have the coin to spend on a new exhaust. If you get a used exhaust definitely check for abnormal rust, salt, corrosion etc.

There's nothing wrong with a used exhaust as long as it comes from someplace that doesn't salt the roads. Although that's not that great of a price. You could do better in the classifieds here.

I agree with Chuck's first point. Used parts are not always an issue. Inspect and request photos of the corrected damage. You can always NOT buy the part.

As for the price, $1,000 for a used Motordyne is pretty good, IMO. It is already one of the more expensive exhausts on the market when new (>$1,800) and the used price reflects that.

I went with a used Motordyne for $1,000 several months ago. I did have to order new hardware ($80 for the official v-band clamps) and I am thinking of purchasing new Burnt, rolled tips ($200/pair). This still puts me at less than $1,400 all in.

I am assuming the scrapes are on the muffler off of the y-pipe (as mine). It is possible to crack this open so ask for pics, but cosmetic damage will be UNDER the vehicle.
