Secondly, yes others have dyno'd these with an S/C. Notable theDreamer has them, and a GTM Stage 1 SC. They will not work with the Stage 2 SC as the compressor is too big. |
I run them with the GTM stage I SC, 400whp & ~340TQ

I never said the HFC's would be a bolt up deal did I? It's just stainless piping. It cuts and welds just like any other pipe out there. Only reason I ask is these things sound like they add a considerable amount of noise since they are uncatted and I don't want a bunch of noise inside my car.

I'm just kinda curious as to why we can get long tubes and catted pipes on f-body's and vette's but on these we can't. I think the hfc's would take out a loan of interior noise but still allow them to work to their full potential. But that's just my $.02. Carry on folks.

They don't add any more noise than say if you went with Test Pipes, just a different type of sound, but the volume isn't any different. Actually, believe it or not, the LTH setup is actually Quieter than an HFC setup. |

Mine have been installed since this spring and I have been loving every second of it :)
Just FYI DAN |

Please..check my PM..

Best exhaust mod I have on here thus far. Doesn't throw a check engine light and I recently passed inspection in New York, of course they didn't look under. I have the distinction of being the loudest car in NY short of those running open dumps.
|
Tony your list is out of date, mine has been installed for quite some time, it's listed as "Blblack" on your list :)

bumping this thread.
Just saw another thread where someone was asking about putting in the FI LTH with the Motordyne XYZ pipe that comes with a cat. Was wondering if anyone has done this. How much of the gains from the LTH would be diminished by adding a cat to the system? |

so tempted to buy used and place these on a 350...

When I get back from my tour, I'm slapping those bad boy's on.... or someone else. Demon bolt sounds terrifying. |

Let me know how it works out once you get everything installed. I may even get it done before you lol, just gonna wait and see if that new motordyne exhaust with the cat comes out soon. But I have also been looking for a nice y-pipe back exhaust to complete the set up if I end up going with the LTH and motordyne XYZ pipe. but the only nice one I have seen so far is that titanium amuse one which costs like $3k:ugh2: |
Yeah, you just might haha. I could easily buy it if I were not funding the wedding. Once I know I'm in the clear and I'm back home, I'll be putting those on order and greasing up those bolts and especially that demon bolt. I'll probably get a base dyno done before install, then dyno after install, maybe give her a few weeks. I'm thinking I may need to get the ecu tuned as well with the changes.

For those interested, got to take Abby out for a few laps on a track, figured I'd post it here since that way for those interested in the actual metered volume of the exhaust, you have an example.
As tested, came in at 93.8dB. Long Tube Headers, 18" Res SS CBE |

bumping question again... would really like to see if anyone has done this yet |
Quote:

That doesn't make sense to me. You are still improving exhaust flow regardless. I can almost guarantee that a LTH with HFC will outflow testpipes and HFC because it is leaving the headers more efficiently. Granted the difference may be academic, but they will always come out on top.
|
Quote:
If you're talking about doing that, save yourself some $$$ and get the Stillen headers and HFC's... |

It is a 3 inch pipe connected to a 3 inch cat. The hp loss from that cat in comparison to no cat would be minimal. Maybe a 3-5 hp loss at it's worst. I already ordered LTH's, I'll be getting the motordyne Y pipe w/ cat next month, and the CBE afterwards. It's a bit backwards :P but I got a killer deal on brand new LTH's and the y pipe is more than half the price as the CBE's. It probably won't be installed until Feb unfortunately because I'll still be out of the country till then. It will be like christmas... funded by me and for me.
And please don't take anything to heart because we both know our answers are hypothetical until proven. I also completely agree that LTH's are not worth it for most people and "similar" gains can be achieved going a different route. IMHO, nothing beats the sound of a nice car that has a full exhaust setup with long tube headers. That scavenging sound, the crackles, and burbles to my ears are priceless. |

stock headers + high flow cats vs fast int. headers=7 hp gain ???
I can't read all 1,831 posts, so if this was pointed out, then I'm sorry for asking. Was there a test done with stock headers + test pipes vs Fast Intentions headers? I think test pipes might be 6 to 11 hp better than high flow cats. Test pipes + intallation is much cheaper than headers + intallation. That would change everything. Unless of course I'm missing something.

Now when we originally tested our exhaust in July of 2009 we tested the test pipes vs. HFC's. The peak gains of the test pipes were slightly higher than the HFC's. I hope that answers your question. If you have anymore questions please do not hesitate to call me directly... Thank you, Tony |
PM me a price with these and a Cf cat back tony! :driving:
