With a HFC,CAI,or catback exhaust you do not have to get a tune it is not mandatory and a CAI will not decrease the life of your engine without a tune that is nonsense where did you hear that from? If you really want to maximize your whp and wtq gains than I recommend getting a tune.
I work on motorcycles for over 10yrs and do quite a bit of dyno tuning on bikes. My personal experience when both the intake and exhaust have been upgraded they end up running very lean. A lean condition will end up causing damage to the piston rings in the motor. This is what I don't want to happen to my car. So you are saying that if I do exhaust and CAI the car will be fine with the factory tune? I am not willing to test this. I will wait and do a HFC, CAI with a tune.
