Z1 Cold Air Intake

Super straight forward install, no cutting required.

Looks awesome and sounds awesome

Butt dyno states much more throttle response and definitely pulls harder in 1st and 2nd gear.

Intakes combo'd with AAM Short tails sounds awesome! http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/...7/IMG_0896.jpg

I hope you got this on Black Friday when they had a deal for $380

VDesi07 12-03-2015 04:52 PM

Actually got it for $370 ;)

AngelSoulll 12-04-2015 08:46 AM

Got this on Black Friday but still on the way

Just want to know how much is the OD or the ID for the tubing and the silicone tubes?

abm89 12-04-2015 09:59 AM

tempting....

SS_Firehawk 12-04-2015 10:11 AM

I'm having this installed with my AAM Midpipes over the weekend. I have a dyno scheduled for after the parts install. I'll ask if they mind strapping it down between installs so we at least have some sort of baseline to go off of, st least for cars that have a CBE.

SS_Firehawk 12-04-2015 10:23 AM

Just Called Z Fever (Fever Racing) They're going to install the intakes, do a couple pulls, throw on the stock box and add the midpipes, do another pull, and then add the intakes for a couple more pulls. They're only charging me an extra $50. I'd do that all day.

VDesi07 12-04-2015 11:24 AM

Wow that is great! My plan is to get AAM Mid Pipes next to pair with my short tails.

Definitely interested in the numbers you get, keep us updated!

BuckeyeZ 12-04-2015 12:03 PM

Are the intakes just resting on the top of the bumper armature or is there a bracket that holds them in place?

Zero dark 12-04-2015 12:55 PM

Looks good. I notice a lot of aam stuff here.

I'll be having my short tails and mid pipe from aam for sale shortly

VDesi07 12-04-2015 06:12 PM

Resting very close to the bumper support, no bracket but very solid, doesn't move much.

Is Martin t tuning the car?

SS_Firehawk 12-05-2015 02:01 AM

Nah, no tuning yet. These are just pulls between parts installs.

Zoren 370 12-05-2015 02:13 AM

Firehawk you already made it to Tampa, hey would like to sub with your build.
Would you know anyone who could do Ecuteck in FL?

What I meant is the measurements of the inner diameter or the outer.

Want to know because I want to match them with ported TBs.

I don't know yet. I do know fever racing is uprev, nothing in my area is ecutek

SS_Firehawk 12-05-2015 07:22 AM

2.5" ID. That I verified, I didn't verify OD.

Thanks

For comparison, does anyone know what is the ID of the Stillen Gen 3 intake?

VDesi07 12-06-2015 02:14 AM

Update: Car is definitely performing different with intakes. Seems more ready to pick up and go. Very happy with mod, hoping to see dyno results

Pretty sure they're 2.5" as well.

daveb91 12-06-2015 10:39 AM

Saw these a couple weeks ago they look very nice... interested

2.5" od pipe is 2.35" id. Same as oem.

synolimit 12-06-2015 04:27 PM

How was cutting not required? I made my own CAI and used silicone and 100% had to cut the radiator support like all. Being 2.5" ID in the silicone to of course go around 2.5" OD pipe, it's even bigger then stillen going through there. Of course silicone can bend and stuff but you wouldn't want to. You'd be changing the shape of that section and changing the air flow through there. Not to mention the rubbing which I had and had to re cut the holes bigger.

VDesi07 12-06-2015 04:41 PM

At the moment the silicone tubes are bending a little through the holes. I am considering going back and cutting the holes to eliminate the bend.

Are you sure about that? I never heard of 2.65" OD aluminium pipe before.

I would. You have to remember the motor rocks a good bit. Every time you hit WOT and the motor rocks back and those tubes are being crushed in there, you're pushing and pulling on them and they will 100% rub through and be trashed.

Good point, will probably give that a look when I have a day off

It may be metric sized. 2.65" works out to 67.31mm. I've come across some real strange stuff at work.

Interesting. I didnt think about that. Now i wonder how the car and MAF's look with going to a bigger size and not having a tune for it. Im sure Z1 tested but still.

What about AAM's intake?

Confirmed the 2.5" from Z1.

I asked them about the ID and they responded that it's 2.5".

Hope they're right.

FPenvy 12-08-2015 08:48 AM

most intakes neck down at the MAFs to keep from needing a tune. look at still g3's and you can see it.

also I believe at 2.5 there's no need for a tune.

mine are 2.75 or 3 I cant remember without measuring but they required a MAF map that was emailed to me to add with my uprev cable.

SS_Firehawk 12-08-2015 10:21 AM

So I have some interesting results to say the least. It will be heavy with dyno info. I think it might need a separate thread. In short, I saw 0 gains on the dyno, but the butt dyno tells me differently. This is with Z1 intakes AND AAM midpipes.

did you tune or alter the tune on the car after the addition of the parts?

already in your new thread going through the numbers and whatnot lol

see you in there.

Zero dark 12-09-2015 12:44 AM

Aam intakes work wonders with right tuner. 2.75 diameter makes a big difference, and they don't neck down. Local g37 sedan has just Aam intakes and a street tune, and it keeps up with almost full bolt on z and g, if not beating them.

Interesting. I am seriously considering going the AAM intake route. I would go the Z1 route but would like to see more reviews (and #'s of course) from current users.
